    Water in my floor locker

My boat is in the lake on a mooring and every time it rains I have to bail out the ski locker, which can get several inches of water in it before the bilge pump kicks on. I considered putting a bilge pump into the ski locker, but there are unseen voids below that which are also holding water...

New boater. Hit Dock. Bad :(

In addition to adding fins, learn how to use the neutral position and the area slightly ahead of it to slowly approach a dock. On my boat the neutral detent position feels like putting on brakes, which slows me down to a much slower speed when approaching a dock. Then a tiny amount of reverse...

Boat "sank" -- port engine just clicks

Could it be that rocks are added to the sealant to prevent someone from digging in and making a simple repair; forcing them to buy an expensive replacement?

Boat "sank" -- port engine just clicks

Was there any water in the cylinders?

    2016 Scarab 195 Limp Mode

Does the engine sound like it's firing on all 3 cylinders when it's idling? You might be able to press the MODE button repeatedly to enter the FAULT CODE function, then use the SET or ARROW buttons to read the fault code(s). Tell us what codes are showing.(letter and 4 digits)

***WARNING*** 2015-18 YAMAHA “AR” BOAT OWNERS WITH FORWARD SWEPT WAKEBOARD TOWERS

Whatever the design is, wouldn't you think that any single-side failure would not be enough to rip out the remaining fastener? Dual engine airplanes are designed to fly with one engine out, so the canopy should be able to hold up with one bolt. Is there enough mount area to re-tap the...

    Time to vent, had enough!!!!

This is my first summer with the boat, so time will tell. My previous jet boat, a Boston Whaler, did fine for 10 summers out on the mooring. Of course, I had to scrub the hull each fall using starbright hull cleaner to remove 99% of the stain from the slightly tannic water, but no hull...

    Time to vent, had enough!!!!

I leave my boat in the water for the summer and I worry about rain filling up the boat and running down the battery from the bilge pump running. My solution is to get a solar charger from Harbor Freight for less than $15. https://www.harborfreight.com/15-watt-solar-battery-charger-62449.html...

JetBoatPilot Mildew Removal Head To Head Comparison

For a fraction of the cost of a "marine" product you can buy Tilex mold & mildew remover. I wonder how Tilex would compare with the West Marine product?

    Water in ski locker

I have added another tool to my boat. This tool has multiple uses, and it's cheap : 1. Vacuums water from the ski locker. 2. Can be used to flush debris or weeds from the impeller area. http://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/strategist/2016/10/14/14-plunger.w710.h473.2x.jpg There are various...

Has any one moved the post on the Shorland'r trailer?

BoatUS recommends a tongue weight of 7-10 % of the towed weight. They also have a way to measure your tongue weight at home, using a bathroom scale and some lumber. http://www.boatus.com/magazine/trailering/2013/June/tongue-weight-diy.asp Why worry about tongue weight? With some vehicle...

These Scarabs May Not Be Safe!

I would think that the wear on the carbon seal would be minimal between trips, so the OP's experience from one trip to the next resulting in a flooding is peculiar, and concerning. Would it be possible to back the boat into the water on a trailer and look for the source of the leak, or fill the...

    Stern light options?

I think that most of the lenses on these lights are designed to focus most of the light out onto the plane of the horizon to increase the visibility to other boaters. Judging the brightness from off-axis is deceiving. Maybe try looking at it from the perspective of another boater, and make...

PLEASE HELP 1995 searayder with 120 hp Mercury jetdrive can't get over 10 mph

It looks like the middle bar of the intake grate is missing and the base has lost some bits as well. Those parts may have been ingested and damaged the front of the impeller...which would cause cavitation. Take a look with a flashlight. Also, in the photo that shows the transom drain plug, the...

    Modify seats for flip-up bolsters?

It took a long time for Scarab or their supplier to make the smaller seat bottoms to fit the flip-up bolsters that I had ordered. I finally got them installed yesterday and they look great. Not that the older seats looked bad, but we spend a lot of time idling around the lake edges and wanted...

    Water in ski locker

My 195 seems to have a deeper v at the bow that makes the bottom of the ski locker lower than the bilge. After some rains I noticed that there was several inched of water in the locker. I accelerated the boat to raise the bow and waited for the water to drain from the locker while the bilge...

    Thrust vectors

I installed my fins, after some production delay due to the redesign, and then hit the road with the boat for a 1700mi trip to the summer camp in Maine. The boat towed perfectly with no fishtail tendencies at all, at least up to 80mph. I also installed a set of firestone air lift bags inside...

How to turn off automatic bilge?

You could wire your automatic bilge pump to the battery switch and that would make sure that it's disconnected when you turn off the battery. This might not be advisable if the boat is left in the water, but I put a solar charger panel from Harbor Freight on mine to keep the battery up when I...

    Cupholders full of water

My PO195 came with 10 plastic cupholders that are not drilled for drainage and the bottoms of the cupholders have ridges that make cleaning impossible. I'll have to investigate to see where they would drain before I drill them out. If any of them drain into an unfavorable area I guess I...
