Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Sometimes the answer is to search for a few part numbers. Crowley Marine and others have illustrated parts list to help get numbers to look for. https://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/1973.cfm https://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/parts/1973_10.cfm...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Where do you live? There are lots of these things around. There are a lot of these around that have sat out in the weather or unprotected and a bloom of rust works it's way under the magnets and the layer of glue separates and the magnets come loose. The more modern flywheel I have used a...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

I have one left in another old flywheel that matches the engine, but I prefer to keep it. Somewhere I think I have another six, but I haven't been able to find them. I suggest you look for a local source of old Force outboards as they were the low cost motor of the 90s and there are a lot of...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

I can't use it and I will sell it to you for what I paid $100 + shipping. Otherwise I will just resell it on eBay where I bought it. You can probably find a Force flywheel somewhere near you, perhaps for less. How many magnets do you need? one or two?

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

The flywheel is the same except for the new style inner (trigger) magnet arrangement and the larger bore taper in the hub. The id of the outer magnets is the same.

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

You are right and wrong. There are two sets of coils. One set generates the current to charge the battery and another group of 3 - 4 coils build high voltage ~ 180 vac - to charge the capacitors in the capacitor discharge ignition or CDI. These must be working and need all of the magnets and a...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

I have looked for old Force outboard parts. The Force engine is what is in the Mercury Sport Jet. Lots of old outboards out there. I got a set that had come loose from the flywheel from a 120. . If one is loose they will all come loose. I think what happens is that moisture gets between the...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Clamp your timing on each lead in turn. I had a bad trigger coil that dropped out at higher RPM.

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Sometimes the triggers break down at higher RPMs. Try either leaving the boat on the trailer or tied firmly to the dock and check the spark on each cylinder. You have checked the compression, yes? Also you seem to be using two threads and that makes it a bit of a PITA and hard to follow and also...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Open the manual and find the electrical print and trace the black and yellow wires. Any ground on the system will stop the engine. The ignition switch grounds it, the kill switch grounds it and the rev limiter grounds it (intermittently to reduce the rpms). It takes using your fingers ant...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Look in the manual I posted it is usually in the front lower of the ignition plate. If it is not there then that is probably not your problem

Here is a copy of the manual

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Are you confusing the rev limiter with the CDI box?
  15. RedBarron55

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Try unplugging the brown wire that goes directly to the rev limiter. Something is not correct if the wire that goes to the rev limiter and no where else is unplugged. The Brown wire sends the pulses from that cylinder trigger coil to both the ignition and the revlimiter. No signal on that wire...

    RPM for Sport Jet 90?

You unplugged the wire that goes to the ignition switch. There should be a wire that just comes from /to the square (ish) rev limiter. That would leave the black/yellow wire that goes to the front ignition and dead man switches in the circuit. One goes to the CDI (or CDM) ignition, one to the...

Rev limiter <on Regal Rush 90hp>

Unplug the black with yellow strip wire from the rev limiter. That is the kill wire that stops the engine when grounded by either the ignition switch, dead-man switch or intermittently the Rev limiter.

    RPM for Sport Jet 90?

The Black with yellow stripe that goes to the square box that is the Rev Limiter. That Blk/Yel wire is the kill line that when grounded kills the ignition. The Rev Limiter "reads" the RPM from the brown trigger wire.

1996 Regal Rush XP 120 jet boat - Broken Control/Shift Cable

I have a number of parts, what do you need? I hate to sell parts that will work on my Hobie Jet Fisherman, but if you need something in particular tell me what you need.

    Sugar sand, heat

Best wishes to you and yours. Look for the three hoses from the tank. Most have them.
