    Sugar sand, heat

Look at the tank for three hoses, one the fuel filler hose, one small going to the engine and carbs and the third to the fuel tank vent. The little hole is likely not the actual vent. You could try to blow through the vent in the cap.

    Sugar sand, heat

On a boat there should be a separate vent and hose to the hull. Some have that vent hose going close to the filler or built into it, but a second vent none the less. There is no way to build up enough pressure to push out the fuel if there is a vent that is open.

    Sugar sand, heat

Check the fuel tank vent. There should be no internal pressure in the tank. If the vent is blocked and it did not have a positive pressure ( like yours would after the cap was removed and replaced) it would not feed fuel correctly either.

    Jetcraft Hobie Jet Fishermn

I doubt that you can remove the tank with the engine installed and I am certain that you can't slide another in place with it in the way. Not a lot of room to work with in there.

    Jetcraft Hobie Jet Fishermn

Your boat looks nice! As to the tank it is a "^*@#" to get out! First you need to empty the tank! then you need to get it dried out. It is held in place by the fiberglass and foam etc about an inch thick aft of the tank. I used an oscillating tool and saw blade to cut it out. Then there is a lot...

A brief insane moment and $300 purchase of 1994 Regal Rush

Cobra Jet , Thanks for the help on my boat and making the old style fins for me.

    Jetcraft Hobie Jet Fishermn

Yes I have had problems with the aluminum tank leaking and have replaced it with a plastic tank. It was a little problem to get it out (in two pieces!) and I had to cut into the flotation foam to make a space for it. I replaced it when U had the engine out and rebuilt it. I have been side...

    1995 Mirage

First I would try the link and sync as discussed here: Carb and timing tutorial. Page: 1 - iboats Boating Forums | 616464 Also you might try cleaning the carbs as the low speed idle circuits feed the low rpm up to some speed and contribute a little fuel to the mixture at speed.) Basically the...

Sugar Sand jet drive stator question

I made my socket by cutting off the proper socket that was too short to go over the shaft and welded a piece of pipe the make the length. I doubt that you need an impact wrench once you have taken it apart the first time, but get the HF impact "screwdriver" while you are there. I think that the...

Sugar Sand jet drive stator question

Look at the clearance from the wear ring to the impeller and then pull the wear ring. Clean it up really good with some sandpaper and wipe it down a few times with solvent and then put a skim coat of JB Weld over the entire surface. Get it as smooth as possible and fill the dings and scoring...

Sugar Sand jet drive stator question

If it was just a little below the drain plug they you are most likely OK. The stator takes relatively little 90 wt. blue Merc oil. Drain the oil and refill. The stator fills to where it just runs out of the hole. The gearcase drains with one of the plug and fills until it overflows from the...

The Little Prius that could ( transmission fluid & engine oil analysis after towing)

The Prius transmission is a planetary system in constant mesh and no shifting of gears, engagement, disengagement, clutches or anything that increases the wear. Pruis transmissions are cheap on ebay because they outlast most of the rest of the car, like any other junkyard parts. The only real...

The Little Prius that could ( transmission fluid & engine oil analysis after towing)

You guys should read up on the Prius Hybrid system. The engine drives a planetary system and the overall gear ratio is determined by the electric motor driving one of the gearsets. There is no revere gear by the way. The reverse is the main electric motor only. The main electric motor/generator...

    Need jet boat help(Mercruiser)?

There is no separate fresh water cooling pump. The cooling water is tapped off of the main jet pressure. If the engine is running in the water the jet pump will pump at least some water. It takes 1ooo to 1100 rpm to flow enough water to keep it cool at idle.

    Need jet boat help(Mercruiser)?

I don't know about your Sport Jet, but my old one gets it's cooling water from a hole in the jet impeller zone. There could be a rock or trash clogging the inlet tap. The jet mechanism comes off fairly easily and this can be inspected and probed with a wire or?? there is an O ring seal where the...

Sportjet 90hp 1995 wet start issue

Water leaks from water getting into the cylinders when on the hose almost drove me crazy. Usually if you have water in a cylinder the compression is higher than the others since water is not compress able. You could remove the spark plugs and see if water runs out of a cylinder with the water...

Need help on reverse gate set up

With stainless bolts and aluminum castings any salt water sets off corrosion that builds up in the aluminum bore and seizes the bolt in place. Heat will help expand the hole and if (a big IF) the lubricant can get into the gap it will help. What I meant to say was HEAT! I had a H3LL of a time...
