AR 230 H.O no start when hot

And if it tests well, add the injector to create a load and check voltage also. The driver may show ok with no load but be unable to deliver real current.

While you run the test on the yds. Yes.

They operate at 12V, but can generally be opened even with a 9V battery.

I agree it's suspect that the other engine is not passing the test. Something's up.

If you are very confident the injector is good, the boat is trying to click the injector, and can't do it. Given that, since you likely have to remove the ECU anyway, I would swap the ecu and confirm the issue follows the ECU exactly as expected to confirm there's no wiring issue. If that...

Injector bad or ECU bad. If it was me, I would confirm by swapping injector places on both engines, a good one with a bad one and try again. If the issue moves you know it's the injector. If not, check wiring, but it might be the ECU. As you get to this stage, as you dig at the ECU and remove...

    Battery Reccomendations

The boat pounds a lot, and many of us use it very seasonally. Glad it works for you, but given the 2 options I prefer the cheaper battery for now. Good to hear they last a very long time!

Bolts on air box... Really needed???

I've been running without the black bolts in the middle of the air box for a few hours... Any one else? Any reason I should put the bolts back on? I'm thinking of making some caps to cover the holes but I figured it best to ask here first.

    Battery Reccomendations

I consider a battery a wear item. I pay < $100 if they last 4 years I'm happily surprised. Normal age for replacement is 3-6 years for me. What do you pay and how much do they last for you? This would be good info to grasp what others are losing by not following your strategy. Thanks,

Do I Really Need a Second Battery?

Need...you need air to breathe, and food to eat... a second battery..,you only need if you draw down the first battery down enough so you can't start the boat with the one battery :) But who is to know if this will happen to you?? My humble suggestion, it will save at least 1 trip in the next...

If you are ordering the YDS, I would suggest waiting for it before swapping the maf/map, the MAF can be tricky to swap without breaking it on these older engines. Might be less dangerous to swap the whole throttle body, but I might me more chicken than others Thoughts???

2004 Yamaha SX230 both engine trouble

So, Did this propulsion loss on the running engine happen while the other engine was off? With a single engine going the propulsion is highly diminished vs 2 engines running. Were you able to move the boat some with the other engine that had "no propulsion"? Hopefully it's just debris...

Do you have a YDS available? Doing the injector driver tests is probably a good idea.

Water coming into engine compartment under power. See pics.

Do it at the dock first. Increase rpm to 3500 while on neutral, well tied to dock, and you might just see it without having to do acrobatics.

Easy way to clean debris out of your jet pump (without pulling plugs or going in the water)

Right, you cut power to stop the impeller from spinning so the wave has a chance to clear the debris while it's loose and not pinned down by the impeller spinning, which it does all the time while the engine is running.

Don't swap the ECU until you try plugs first. It's not trivial to swap.

AR 230 H.O no start when hot

that's right, that's how you bring the throttle up while keeping the reverse gate down, and the boat should still crank, as you are still in "neutral"

    Connext 12.3" Screen Recall

OR, they are trying to use software to overcome a hardware problem. It's tricky when we don't know what is really going on, to say one way or the other. Because it's so many boats I expect they will try their hardest to address it via software update, to prevent any parts replacements and keep...

AR 230 H.O no start when hot

There was another recent thread where the issue was a bad stator and pick up coil... as these engines age the board is seeing new issues here and there that were not as common, so decent troubleshooting is key as the engine age increases.

You may have a leaky injector vs Bad ECU. if it happens again, humble suggestion to troubleshoot...Open it Wide and crank for a few second (say 5) it won't start since the ECU won't fire at WOT but it will move air and hopefully clear your rich start condition if it's a leak, and allow it to...
