Starting to second guess my boat purchase

You took the boat out in ocean in rough seas to fish with your wife and now she wants to every weekend? (this sounds like a fish story :D) But seriously, these drooping bow, low freeboard boats are not designed for that kind of use. A standard outdrive wouldn't give more stability, but a more...

Draft of 24' boats with keels/rudder

I've left my 2016 boat docked in heavy rain - and yes, some water pools to the front and the whole bilge eventually fills up enough to trigger the bilge pump. Dead battery + enough rain might eventually equal a swamped boat, but it would take a long time (or maybe one hurricane)!

Help!! 242x won't go into neutral

I've noticed the buckets seem to usually open (forward) or stay partially down (neutral) after shutdown when I've definitely turned them off in neutral. I guess if you power up and they don't reset to neutral it generates an error? (Now you've got me concerned about mine that sometimes stay in...

    Fogging Supercharged 1.8L

Wow - 4 minutes of fogging through the intake plus through each plug hole! That seems excessive but very thorough.

No Yamaha Media Event for 2018 Models! :-(

I agree on the zippered opening, but apparently many folks don't and pay thousands for a sliding sunroof built into their hardtop they paid many more thousands for on larger boats! Overall, the changes to the e-series bimini look more like cost cutting measures to me. I do like the relocated...

Should I install a bilge pump float in Yamaha 242x?

IMO if you can always be sure you haven't left any other accessories on and the batteries aren't discharged when your done for the day and the solar panels are in full sun, you'll be fine with the stock setup. And yes, the panels will charge the batteries with the switches off - which means warm...

    Maneuvering a Yamaha

Key point to remember is all of these "looks easy" maneuvering videos have one person aboard - add a few passengers, especially to the bow, and the helm response becomes much more sluggish!

    Dual Throttle usage

It's too convenient not to use it all the time - the only time I want split throttle control is maneuvering around the docks. This is a great feature especially since Yamaha's cable control rigs have had issues forever - apparently they are delivering 2017's that have the same problems as my...

"Emergency Parallel" switch and "Second Battery Charging" indicator

Wired correctly, the combining switch simply parallels the batteries and as does the DVSR when the LED is lit (after charging the Start battery first). In the e-series the solar panels are wired directly to the Start battery (on the switch), which charges the Start first and then both via the...

Oops! So you think you're having a bad day?

Damn good thing the boat went up and not into the cab!

    Solar panel and battery disconnect

So, just to recap that DVSR diagram which contradicts the service manual diagram, the solar panels should work just like the engine generators via the DVSR, charging the Start battery first and then both Start and House together. The engine does this when the switches are on of course, and the...

    Solar panel and battery disconnect

If I'm following that diagram correctly the solar panels are connected directly to the Start battery. If that switch is off, nothing feeds the DVSR so no charge to the House battery. However, turning the Parallel switch on should connect (and charge) both batteries. This looks like a good...

    Salt terminator mix/engine over heat

The mixer restricts the flow so flushing when the engines are already hot can cause an overheat. I flush at idle since more rpm doesn't effect flushing and only creates more heat.

    Milky/Foamy oil in a 2008 AR210 with 825 hours

That's an impressive number of hours! Any other symptoms of a blown head gasket (white smoke)? If you're sure you haven't flooded the engine with water, time for a compression check.
