My solution to mildew while covered up for the winter

That will definitely reduce humidity - up to 8 gallons per day! Using a drain hose is the only way to go with these units, and if they need to run constantly they can use a fair bit of electricity. I've always been very skeptical about other moisture absorbing devices that could hold very little...

    BoatTest 2017 AR210 with 1.8s????

Pretty sure the numbers they show on-screen during the video are valid. Tops out at 43.8 MPH and doesn't get better than 2.5 MPG, a bit disappointing and surprisingly worse than the old MR-1.

Fix for Connext Battery Voltage Issue - Confirmed

We need a petition to force Yamaha to pay for this fix on every Connext equipped boat they have sold! :)

    Various sound readings

Bimini top up or down makes a big difference also (and one disadvantage of the large e-series top)!

    Rain in my bilge? wha...?

These boats sit bow low and don't drain well via the scupper unless the the bow is raised, either on the trailer or a cradle or underway. If mine sat in the slip and the solar trickle charger couldn't keep up with the bilge pump draw, given enough rain I have no doubt it would eventually sink!

Tower size of 2016 242 lse

I'd like a confirmation of this also - I know the front and rear tubes ares different sizes and roughly measured 2 1/4" & 2 3/8" (?) but I'd like to be sure.

leaving my batteries in for the winter

Even on a charger, not sure it's a good idea to "store" the batteries in freezing conditions... I envy the warm climate e-series with the solar trickle chargers - several months of "storage" is basically just leaving the boat alone!

Is Fogging the Engines necessary for climate controlled storage?

Fogging helps prevent internal corrosion - if it's going to be reasonably warm AND dry, I wouldn't bother.

Sold my boat.....What do I do NOW? NOT a "simple answer"! HELP!

I've operated Yamaha jet boats in the area for 8 summers with good results BUT I've kept the boats dry docked and am willing to deal with that hassle because I also like to keep the boat immaculate. The low maintenance solution in your situation is definitely an outboard!

Yamaha Oil Filter Cross Reference List

Been using Purolator 10241's (available in various "grades") for years - commonly available and cheap (no alum tape)!

man these guys build some cool boats

Conceptually, about the opposite of our Yamahas! In reality, the constraints of wood construction means a modern fiberglass boat will out perform them in every way, except maybe as a piece of art.

Disappointed in my new Stryker rod holders.

What size tubing is your tower (they're designed for 2")? I was going to get a set in black but my tower is 2 1/4", is the insert compressible so they will clamp and stay w/o digging in the set screw? Here's the double priced alternative I was also looking at (silver only)...

Yamalube 20 year/5000 hour engine warranty

http://yamalubeadvantage.com This rings a bell that I was offered the same program on my '13 just never bothered to sign up. I probably already disqualified myself since I did my own 10 hour service with non-Yamaha parts... Biggest take away is Yamaha thinks their engines can last at least 5000...

Yamalube 20 year/5000 hour engine warranty

Just got their email... lots of terms and conditions fine print but it is for an impressive term! Signed up and then tried to enter my first service record but clicking "submit" did nothing. Anyone else sign up and submit a record successfully?

Poll based on Winterization thread-when change oil

There are no good reasons NOT to change the oil & filter before storage! (I think that double negative worked out!)

    Winterization debates

The big issue with ethanol fuels is "phase separation" which results in this goop that will clog your fuel system. This is a chemical reaction between water and ethanol that occurs at a critical CONCENTRATION. Leaving your tank nearly dry means it will not take much water to hit this...

    Need advice

Best value by far would be a lightly used 2015 240 series - I'd also take my time searching over the winter and plan on using it next spring. As a new jetboater you'll appreciate the keel and rudder.

Drone video of a boat running aground.

With all those guys and all that power I'm surprised they couldn't figure out a way to back off that reef! (and that hovering flying camera would be pretty obnoxious)

Should I get a CARB or Non CARB 2016 limited s?

That's over 55 mph - definitely go CARB! :) But seriously, given the choice in a limited recreational use vehicle even with some environmental guilt, I'd probably pick the non-CARB version if only to avoid the possible catalyst and O2 sensor repairs down the road... I mean bay! This is a good...
