    Alternatives to water test

I'm like that too. A test will show up potential problems with engine and pumps. Also more minor things like electrical problems. Obviously drive train is most important, but a bunch of minor things can drive you crazy.

Started 18th Season with AR230 today

Little bit of smoke and mirrors. Kinda like the Millennium Falcon, good where it counts. It has its nicks and dings. We have well got our moneys worth out of it though. I think we paid $36K new.

Started 18th Season with AR230 today

I've neglected some things over 17 years, but not anything mechanical. I've had upholstery replaced in all areas at least once. My graphics are almost faded white. I've wetsanded and polished one year and it looked great for a couple of seasons. It's just rough when it stays outside...

Started 18th Season with AR230 today

Obligatory beginning of year post. Woke her up from storage this week. Cleaned up, change oil and plugs, went out today and all was well. Ran a slight wind aided 48.7 mph GPS at 10,200 RPMS. Not for very long though, don't like running WOT. I haven't check the hours in a while, but I would...

    Clean out plug disaster...

Too late now, but what happened to the jet port popper? is it still a product and any around? Might have been helpful.

    Loading boat on trailer

There is no set way to determine trailer depth by water on fenders due to varying ramp angles. Shallow ramp angles you may have to back way down with water covering fenders, very steep angle not much water cover at all. You need to be just deep enough for the boat to self center but still make...

My audio upgrade plan for 2023 AR 250 - update - revision 5

You also want headroom. There are various rules out there but you want more than the RMS rating. I think 100w is good for 75w RMS speaker.

EV discussion - hate or love?

I thought the first Tesla he bought years ago felt like a very cheap build all the way around and horrible ride. The new X model seems significantly better in the build quality and ride.

EV discussion - hate or love?

Would never buy one. My brother in law is on his second Tesla. He bough the Model X and it's a nice vehicle. We took it on a 215 mile trip and had to stop for 30 min for charge. Then on the way back it said we had enough to get home and then changed it to 10% or less once we had driven 85...

Broken off Spark Plug into cylinder head

    It's definitely not hand tight.

Broken off Spark Plug into cylinder head

So you think the torque for spark plugs 18.5 ft/lbs? Maybe that's why it broke off. The service manual for my AR230 states 9.4 ft/lbs, which converted is 112.8 in/lbs. I back off of that to account for anti seize.

Broken off Spark Plug into cylinder head

I use a torque wrench and anti seize. I bought one that has in/lbs. I do account for the antiseize and have backed down from I believe 108 in/lb to 95. Changed 100 or more with no problems.

Low Volts after running audio in parallel

As others mentioned, if you have that low of voltage your batteries are toast. I have two amps on this battery. https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-31m/sli31mdc I'm on my second one in about 8 years. Batteries are about specs, not brand...

    Battery outdoor power equipment

They are likely required to service a John Deer mower even if it's bought at big box store. Could just be convenience for some people. The big box stores give discounts that that the John Deer dealer might not give, like military. My sister in law saves a butt load on stuff with the military...

AR230 Impeller Pitch and also WTB

If you can build up and then sand down that would seem to work. It's amazing how little build up or swelling of the plugs will freeze them in place.

AR230 Impeller Pitch and also WTB

If you are talking about the inside of the cleanout plug housing where the cleanout plug actually inserts and locks down, You can use a cylinder hone. I'm not sure epoxying would be a good idea as the tolerances are pretty tight for the cleanout plug to lock down and still be able to be removed.

    Battery outdoor power equipment

I've got about 1/3 acre. I blew an almost new honda lawnmower engine and decided to take the plung with the ego lawnmower. Initially I thought it was OK but then notice a couple of things. The width of the handle is too narrow and very uncomfortable. Also the distance of the handle from the...

YES Warranty parts and repair delays

This is the downside to any warranty. I'm sure there are folks that are tickled pink with their warranty, and this may work out for you.
