    Who has had Insurance Claims?

I've had 3 claims with Boat US over 20+ years, totaling over $20K. I don't know yet how the new underwriter Geico will be if I have another claim, but I am a little worried!

    Agreed value policy here too.

Anyone else in Mass can't register their trailer BS?!?!?!

Look into registering your trailer in Maine. I registered my kayak/bike trailer for 10 years for small money. https://mainetrailerregistrations.com/

    Help sputtering engine

Any chance there is water in the gas? In my old Four Winns, bad gas caused similar symptoms. Have you tried running from a known fresh separate gas tank? EDIT: Sorry, bad gas would affect both engines.

Our new, not-so-new, 1972 Cheetah Jet Boat

A quick Google showed a few with Berkley pumps and big V8s; someone was talking about a tweaked 455 in one! Found this quote: " a Cheetah made by Borum High Performance Boats."

    Charging Problem

I would guess that the big bolt probably came from some type of hoisting setup for engine or maybe top molded half installation. I found something similar a few years ago; still haven't found where it came from!

    Charging for Dummies ... revisited?

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but how does the ACR play in at all when using a dual bank charger with separate leads from the charger to each battery?

    Engine Cooling Question

I used to have the same concern; I don't use anti freeze at all on the boat (used to in the fresh water shower tank, now I just drain) and haven't had any issues in 5 winters. The engines are supposed to be self draining, and I think they really are!

    EFI Engines and Spark Plugs

Probably the biggest benefit is making sure that they aren't stuck/corroded. You get that with the gap check, so I can see your point!

Dead on side of road - bad trailer hub I85 GA/AL border HELP?

It was 8 or 9 years ago, so the details are not fresh. I called 3 or 4 places and got a name and recommendation for the guys you see in the photos. This was a crappy day; I was bringing the boat to be consigned and ended up taking a 2-3 grand loss. Fun while we had it though!

Nice job! I didn't even try!

    Battery maintenance

Totally dead may be just that; have you checked the electrolyte levels in the cells? A cheap hydrometer from the auto parts store will work. The lead plates in the battery can get a layer of sulfate that prevents electron flow, so it may take a 'desulfation' charge to wake up a 'mostly dead'...

Before winter or in the spring ? And why?

Yep, I know what you mean. I didn't for 2 years until I joined the other forum. I had no problems either, but it is a very easy and cheap performance assurance.

Before winter or in the spring ? And why?

I fog ours in the fall, change oil in the spring on the trailer, and do plugs after a few days of running in the spring.

    Dealer Inspection and Wet Slip

Question 1: Have them go through the info screens, flush procedures, clean out plug operation, and maybe a little jet control lesson. I'm sure there is more, but those jump to mind from my own new boat delivery in 2013. Question 2: I wet slip on my lake, and have for my 6 years of ownership...

    Saved by <BoatUS> Trailer Assist....

I used to get 18mpg with my '07 Tundra; 14 while towing. Lowest cost in maintenance of any of 8 pickups I've owned over 45 years, and I traded it in with 160K miles for $4000. I needed a 1 ton for the new truck camper/boat combo, or I would have stayed with Toyota.

Someone rained, no poured on my parade

We live on a small lake and wet slip in about 18" on a normal year (2' this year!). I had to put Troll N Tabs, trim tabs with trolling motors mounted to them, to get our old I/O in and out of our dock. The maintenance averaged $1500/year. We love our Yamaha, pay less than $200/year, and have...

Have you had a 1.8 timing chain failure, was it in warranty and how has Yamaha handled it?

It would useful to know how many members have gotten repairs for this covered by Yamaha after warranty expiration.
