My first Yamaha 1.8 issue in 8 years.

I would change the plugs every year. I found when they started to go the engines would stall when idling especially after she had been running for awhile. It was an easy thing to do and that was part of my annual maintenance.

    Clean Out Port Day 3

Great to hear. I had to use the jack trick before and it worked!

    Cavitation/ventilation issue

It seems like you may need to look at the gasket that is not sitting tight. The seal should be even and tight. Are you sure the plug is seated all the way down and locked?

    Getting kids into wakeboarding

I had skied but never rode a wakeboard. I watched some videos and got a wakeboard that was the right size for the kids. It took a little while to get them up but I realized most of the problem was me. Once I learned how to drive the boat to get them up they had no problems. We have taught...

Do Not Lend Your Vehicle out to anyone

So sorry you are in this situation. As mentioned above I am willing to take my truck and help but not just let it go. I know this is hard on you and it is hard on your buddy as well. It seems like you got a fair value for the truck which is good. Hopefully the civil suits will not be an...

This just makes me cringe - Careless boat owner inside

As mentioned above how do you not hear this and when doing the walk around to strap the back of the boat you would see it. Of course I have made mistakes that are obvious afterwards as well!

MAIDEN VOYAGE WAS AWESOME TODAY....AND THEN DISASTER

I have had to limp back on one engine several times and as long as you go slow you won't have a problem with water in the engine.

That is pretty good for a high school project!

This guy is flying down this river

It sure looked like they had the river to themselves and it was planned. Still wouldn't want to go that fast in a boat. I have seen those racing boats flip and it is not always a good outcome! Amazing to see!

Protecting a New Boat from Theft

When I had my boat in the Marina I wasn't too worried. The they guards walk the docks every hour and cameras. When I moved the boat to the lake house I was more worried. Besides the obvious things to do I got a plastic covered SS cable and ran it through the handles and cleats on the back of...

    Oil On Spark Plug

Did you smell gas on the Plug? If so it isn't firing. if not you may simply not be getting gas. I don't know if you got to check the compression but that is pretty easy to check and I would check the others as well so you can compare. If the compression is good then it has to be either fuel...

Busy holiday weekend at the Miami ramp

I have had similar experiences on on lake ramps. Especially in the evening after many people had a little too much to drink!

Near Death Outboard Prop Accident - Lessons Learned

He made great progress in six weeks. I didn't wear mine in the boat since it is so large and I was always turning between towing and docking. I rarely was alone as well. Back in the day even renting john boats for fishing there was never a kill switch even though you had much better odds of...

Sold my house and moved to SW Florida

Nine feet isn't a lot but it sounds like you have a great spot. We couldn't find what we wanted on a canal. So we went in land a little. But the drive on beach is absolutely great!
