    Another stereo upgrade post

Solid!! How do you like the sound? What did you have before stereo wise? I noticed you went with Rockford towers...any reason why those over others? I too looked at those but ultimately ended up with the JL M880s but heard those get loud too? How many batteries?

    JL Slampak Questions

I would have said it wasnt uncommon to experience this, BUT those 2 extra cabin speakers should def help the sound, which makes me think it's the amps or how it wired maybe...underpowered. I personally am not a fan of the slampacks since you get what they give you vs getting what you need....I...

winning combo....AND you wont be disappointed. What amp do you want to go with? What kind of sub, free air or an enclosure?

Speaker questions for 18 242 se

Ive heard of them, never used them....supposedly the subs are solid. That said if their amps arent class D, and it comes with a 2yr warranty then you might err on the side of caution and splurge on the JL or WS, or Kicker among others. Im surprised your audio guy would throw them up against...

Speaker questions for 18 242 se

I think adding a sub would be solid if you expect to keep the boat. 8 JL 6.5s and a single 10 will sound amazing...or any combo with decent power....but adding those cockpit speakers is a big diff!!

    Amp selection

not bad at all....those JL amps dont seem to draw nearly as much juice as they put out. Im running two group 29 batteries for the house and 3 JL amps and no low battery so far, although I have charged mine up overnight when power is available depending on where Im docking.

Speaker questions for 18 242 se

How much of a concern is cost? I ask b/c you could run an over-sized speaker, ie 7.7 vs a 6.5 and push a little more power to it and it should give you plenty of bottom end without a sub...albeit nothing like a sub, which begs the question....why not add the sub and a bass knob whereby you can...

    Amp selection

Impressive....I have also experienced similar results with JL...after learning from experience. You ran you stereo a long time, what kinda battery performance did you experience? How many house batteries do you run? @James R Whitten I do believe gaining the amp correctly should improve the...

    Amp selection

What speakers do you have...are they wired correctly per the amp specs? The sub, how many inboat speakers and what kinda towers? Maybe a JL 800/8 would work depending on what kinda speakers u running.

Dead battery after installing JL sub

I was just about to mention that.... Its gonna suck but if there is NO power for you to plug in to @Brent Markham then you will need to either swap batteries or take it with you to charge at home if you notice it drops below a certain voltage. Any option to get another storage/parking...

4 ideas for rear swim deck speakers locations looking for input. Ar240 pics welcome

I cant tell from.your pic where you have a hole at...if you cut the cushion where I marked it and scoot the speakers out a lil woildnt that work? I have a 2017 AR240 and am having my cushions trimmed as well...best look and option imho.

Dead battery after installing JL sub

What kinda house battery are you using? What's the reserve capacity? How many amps are you running? Without recharging your batteries after a few days of usage you won't be able to avoid this issue from my experience. I have 3 amps (soon to be 4) and run two batteries and charge them up...

    2017 242 Limited S E Series Slampak

The slampacks are solid....BUT....it really depends on your expectations. If you just want music to chill then those would be a great option, but IF you ever wanted to crank it for whatever reason then you might be well served to pieece it together. I just worked with this company to buy...

    2017 242 Limited S E Series Slampak

Welcome @kinglenario to the forum...this subject has been covered multiple times, everything from towers to amps. The first step would be to determine the number of speakers you want, then match them with a solid amp. A few of us run JL speakers and amps and can vouch for them. My suggestion...

See thats actually what got me thinking about this @robert843 ....wasnt sure if splitting off the 0awg was enough juice to support the 4 amps. From what Ive seen so far, and those Ive spoken to I think it should be fine. That link to Jl Audio on how to calculate the amp draw gives me apprx...

Dont tempt me, lol.... that's phase 4, but that was not one I wanted....my preference was to only have a single set of towers since I have hit my head already and dont wakeboard or need it to project that far...that being said I was supposed to stop at phase 2 with the towers, so never say...

    Distribution block

I'm thinking that as a potential item of concern at well @robert843. I checked with a few places including Odin @Earmark Marine who I bought the new equipment for phase 3 from, and he also said it should be fine. I don't mind erring on the side of caution if needed though. Was tryn to post...

@Julian Im not sure that I want to chance using 8awg on these amps, I have to imagine they wouldn't be getting full power from 8 vs 4awg. Im waiting on vendor to confirm these are indeed 4awg which Im hoping and that seals it for me. I'll be running 4 amps, and 3 of them have 80 amp fusees...

Perfect...I can see now....I couldn't tell where the ground outputs were but makes sense now. This is a solid unit, have been looking at it since your install so finding it with the diff fuses really fits my needs. Im waiting on confirmation the outputs for this specific model are in fact...
