    Option/Accessory Review Compilation

The guys who owns these things might be a better source, but having spoken briefly with my local dealer, they indicated that most would need to be ordered with the boat. I'm sure for many, you can order them through the dealer after the fact. I'm not aware of any third-party outlets, however.

Chaparral Vortex 223: "Now Available" per Chap website

So if you look at the little price tag symbol on their Vortex pages (superimposed over the picture headers), it boasts about their "No hassle, real deal pricing." I think they must be treating them like the H20s. And I agree with your observations/conclusions on all counts. I look in from...

Chaparral Vortex 223: "Now Available" per Chap website

As someone actively cross-shopping, I'm curious why you compared the VRX 223 line to the AR210. Since the VRX is the upper-trim Vortex, it seems fairer to either compare VRX to one of the 212's, or compare the 210's against the more modest VR series?

Chaparral Vortex 223: "Now Available" per Chap website

223 is now up on their Build/Price website! Lots of pics and pricing. http://www.chaparralboats.com/2014/chaparral/Chaparral-Boats.php?country=226#

    ROTAX ENGINE

I love my Speedster 150 (first boat!), the engine has treated me well so far, and I'm leaning towards a Scarab 195/215 HOI as my next. So I like the rotax powerplant and have some 'lost my boat virginity' fondness and loyalty to Sea-Doo/BRP/Rotax. But I have to agree that the quantity of...

VIDEO OF THE SCARAB LINE UP AT THE TORONTO BOAT SHOW

Wow, check the dash on that. There's that rectangular screen again! What is that thing?!

Chaparral Vortex 223: "Now Available" per Chap website

I suspect the Scarab/Chap/Glastron folks will discover this place and make it home, despite the predominant Yamaha presence. I've searched, and haven't found anywhere else with this much chatter and media about the new boats. It's such a great thing having some of the early adopters share...

This forums needs more seadoo pics

Was out on Sunday so I thought I'd share a few pics of a neat little spot, at least by local standards. I drool over the sandbar spots you all post! The spot is called World's End in Hingham, MA in the southeastern corner of the greater Boston Harbor Islands area. Evidently it's a popular...

    My scarab 215 review

@Frogboy, How's that 215 HO Impulse treating you now that you've had some time to break it in and learn its idiosyncrasies? Any new lovable features or pet peeves? Revised thoughts on initial quality? Is that 500HP massive overkill or just what the doctor ordered? Not that those are...

    'Merica! Im coming home!

Man, I know that feeling, and it's a good one. Here's to a happy, peaceful homecoming with the ones you love. Godspeed, safe travels, and thank you for what you do.

Chaparral Vortex 223: "Now Available" per Chap website

Haha. I think I've seen the same or similar thread over there in my travels. Back when they announced that Chaparral would be entering the market, there was a mega-thread on one of their forums bashing jetboats. "It was as if a million sterndrive owners cried out in terror, and were...

Chaparral Vortex 223: "Now Available" per Chap website

As of a few days ago, the 223 on this page said, "Coming June." It now states that they are available. So it looks like more information should be out soon on the 223 Vortex from Chaparral. It'll be really interesting to see how these stack up between the 2015 Yamahas and the Scarabs, with...

Do you use your boat's kill switch lanyard?

Always. I'm usually playing Frogger out in Boston Harbor or other big water, and the Sea-Doo Speedster 150 is only 15' and no freeboard. The volume of traffic, the size of the wakes from the high-speed ferries and whale watch vessels, and various sandbars that appear and disappear with the...

    Got a new radio!

Another outstanding writeup. Thanks man. It's very likely I may end up cribbing your entire playbook of upgrades if I end up with a Scarab. And either way, it's a lot of fun watching you pimp your ride. A few questions: What made you choose that radio unit? compatibility with...

    Anchor suggestions for lake water?

Yeah, maybe. I upgraded from a small danforth that would often drift on me a bit. Granted, this was before I read up on scope recommendations, chains, etc., but I only ever anchored in shallow water (<20') so even then I was likely throwing out enough line. My experience with the digger...

    Anchor suggestions for lake water?

Saltwater Digger Anchor with the Anchor Buddy described above. Hits bottom and my boat doesn't budge (granted my boat's smaller, but this thing is great). http://www.sandspike.com/diggerAnchor.shtml#digger http://www.sandspike.com/customLines.shtml#buddy

Veterans! let us know who you are.

Lol, don't worry DevilDog, the only exploitation of the information I just shared... ... is me using it to reminisce about my glory days from the confines of this civilian office like 10 years later. Lol It's only when you lose things that you appreciate them -- like your employer making PT...

    Scarab add a battery (modification)

Wow. This is fantastic. Great job, Mike. This is the level of detail a non-gearhead like me needs. I'm happy to tinker and play around and learn, but not with a 30-50K investment. Really appreciate you taking the time. Might be a few months before I have a Scarab to follow suit (waiting to...
