    Airplane Project

Another update... A few days ago, all of my avionics checked out and everything was determined to be functional and accurate. This included 7 different antennas! We also did a fuel pump capacity check and bled the brakes. The highlight of the day was installing the propeller. This work of art...

    What's the other site?

I was pretty active on the old site, and was one of the inaugural members here. I don't think I've ever been back, even out of curiosity.

    Airplane Project

In fact, I just got off the phone with my paint guy. I'll fly it for six months of so, then to his shop for paint done over next winter.

I'm hoping for first flight some time this summer. I thing that's a pretty realistic goal.

    Airplane Project

Wow, congrats to Alec! That's super impressive! While it's been 5 years since I started, there was a period of almost a year where I never looked at the project. Most if the time I spend on the project is my days off and the occasional evening. I've intentionally not tracked my hours. I...

    Airplane Project

I'm not very knowledgeable on ultra lights. I'm far more familiar with the Vans line of aircraft. There is a model that they make that qualifies as an LSA, which requires a sport pilot license rather than a harder to obtain private pilot license. That model is called the RV12. All their models...

    Airplane Project

I know what you mean, this has been one serious lesson in perseverance. It's been over five years since I've started. A lot of people complete these much faster, many much much slower. Mine will fly when it flies...

It has pins to eject the canopy, but then we better BOTH be wearing parachutes!

    Airplane Project

I did a post on the project quite a while ago, and since much progress has been made recently, I figured I'd post an update. The pics in the living room was just for riveting on the bottom skins of the wings (it's cold in WI in December!) The rest of the build has taken place in the garage...

So I've been off the forum lately, madly working on another project. I figured it was time for an update for those interested @Bruce @Andy S and @justason This project is about a month away from being transported to the airport, maybe 6 months from taking to the skies! @Bimini by air in...

    Float Plane - Danger?!

I'm not at all disagreeing with your concern. I'm looking at it from an enforcement perspective, that's all.

    Float Plane - Danger?!

It isn't uncommon for an airplane to wait only 10 yards or so from the runway while waiting for landing aircraft. But how do you enforce a law if it isn't quantified? If I want to write a speeding ticket, I would have to know your speed and the posted limit. I imagine the same would apply if...

    Float Plane - Danger?!

I searched a bit and couldn't find anything... What is the required distance to be kept from a ski boat in Florida? Only mention of any regulation is regarding a diver down flag (scuba). It's a moot point if there is no law requiring a minimum distance from skiers.
