Fishing gear for Bimini / S Florida

And trolling fast! at least compared to Lake Michigan speeds, which are about 1.5 mph. Salt water trolling is about 7 or 8 mph and wahoo like to hit on even faster baits. Our best luck were with skirts and cedar plugs, especially cedar plugs. My favorite is scarred with teeth marks!

Those particular dates are what works for me so far. I'll know more in January. But, if we follow the previous year's schedules, we meet on a Sunday for a Captain's meeting, cross on a Monday, cross back on a Saturday. This allows the weekends for traveling. Using that criteria... Captain's...

No, as long as we get our reservations in early in 2015. They usually don't stay at Bimini Sands either.

    Bimini 2015 - July 6th to 11th

Sorry I've been out of touch on the board lately. This thing called life has consumed loads of my time. By no means does this trip have to center around my schedule. The dates I'm considering are because I intend to bring my family along this time and their last day of school is June 10th.

    Bimini 2014-June 22

That's how mine works too. The wireless charging part. The problem is if you have it plugged into the boat, you have to snap the stand on the bottom. I guess the nice thing about the stand, if you have to use it, is that it is very thin, maybe 1/2 thick. And it snaps onto the radio.

    Bimini 2014-June 22

Mine is the hx751, basically the same but without the gps. Works great, but I don't like the charger interface, it has to plug into a small stand rather than plugging directly into the radio. I'm sure they do it that way to maintain the waterproofing.

    Fishing in Bimini

We did ok this year, trolling cedar plugs and some skirts. We had rigged ballyhoo this year with some rigged squid also. I don't think I'd invest as much in the rigged ballyhoo or squid as we did this year. I don't remember what we used on last years' wahoo. It had to be the cedar plugs or the...

    Bimini 2015 - July 6th to 11th

The Fling dates are always in June and July because of the predictable good weather. But, I know they hold tournaments in Bimini in the winter months. The Sands also has a fairly generous cancelation policy. For us, it's late June or bust because of the kids' summer schedule.

    Bimini 2015 - July 6th to 11th

We packed food for six guys. We ate out once and didn't bring back much at all. We brought a ton of beer and Gatorade (not enough beer!) Plan on bringing plenty of liquids. The tap water is ok to drink but doesn't taste the best. A case of local beer was $50 and a case of water $48.

Yes, it's a haul. I think I confused Exuma with Andros. The other option is the Berry Islands. More research needed!
