1996 Northstar blast mercury 120xr will not start

The Lowe's fitting is the largest flare fitting that they have. If the plate is not visibly bent then perhaps a large hammer and a block of wood? If bent use the hammer and block of wood to straighten and flatten it.

Do not run the motor on the flush attachment that feeds the top of the block. The dealer attachment goes in the line from the pump and the lower part of the exhaust manifold. Google the Sport Jet cooling kit . You can get the fitting at Lowes and adapt it to a hose connection. Google some of my...

1996 Regal Rush XP 120 jet boat - Broken Control/Shift Cable

I can't help much with the new binnicle, but the geometry is geometry. My problem was in getting from idle to WOT on the throttle with the stock unit. The important thing is the throw should equal the original system to go from full reverse to full forward. I spent a lot of time confused working...

1996 Northstar blast mercury 120xr will not start

The timing light should flash every rev. On each cylinder. At idle the timing light should be at about 8 - 10 * btdc. if you mark the flywheel 4 time 90 * the light should be on each cylinder as you go from top to bottom. By the way the throttle plates need to be adjusted so that they are...

1996 Regal Rush XP 120 jet boat - Broken Control/Shift Cable

The polarity of the switch wires makes no difference. The switch should interrupt the power to the starter when the throttle is not in the neutral detent. Check the wire to the solenoid with an ohmmeter to determine that it is the proper one. Many of the old switches have been jumpered out so...

    Maybe I shouldn't own a boat..

The wires go to the stator that also feeds the rectifier.regulator. The AC from the stator heats the wax capsule and closes the enrichment valve. It is only passing fuel when the engine starts for the first time or until it cools when the stator is not producing power. There is no switch in the...

    Maybe I shouldn't own a boat..

Do a Link and Sync (goggle the procedure for a Force) The idle should be 1000 to 1200 to cool the jet engine at idle. The outboard is 950.

    I hate carbs!!!

Follow the instructions in the linked reference and you can also google for a video for the Force setup. The throttle plates must be closed completely and the setup like the instructions say.

    Blower use

You should always use the blower the time before the boat would otherwise explode, so that one is enough

Sport jet 90 - 120 intake grate streamlining?

Haven't been there yet, sorry. I had the ride plate and grate off, but I didn't look at where the cables come through. The installation manual should show a bit about it though.

You would only get voltage when the motor is turning over. by key on I assume that you mean that the switch is on but the engine is not turning and that would be normal. I don't know if the voltage or more properly the current to the coils would be picked up by a meter since the output is very...

1994 sea rayder Jet boat no start

There are four wires from the trigger coils a common and a coil for each cylinder. If spinning over (plugs out perhaps) they should show about 4 volts (pulsing of course) from the output to the common. Each coil should measure about 1400 ohms to common so use that as a guide to find the common...

1994 sea rayder Jet boat no start

Power does nor go to the switchbox, The ignition is powered off part of the stator windings. There are two or three wires from the stator for the switchbox depending on if the stator is red or black. The 12 volt power to the battery charging is from the two yellow wires that go to the...

It would not be grounded out. These wires need to carry the 12 volt power from the starter contacts of the key switch to the solenoid. The switch in the throttle/shift to keep from starting in gear, If you tie the wires together when you turn the key the solenoid will pull in and the starter turn
