LS2000 - Unknown Port in Hull

Gotta love this forum. My 2018 212X has a similar chrome through hull fitting on the port side just forward of (like right next to) the fuel filler cap. I just spent an hour going through every page of the owners manual trying to figure out what the hell it was--figured it had something to do...

    2018 242X Audio Problem

As I recall, and it's been a few years, Wet Sounds was pretty good about sending out that dongle firmware flasher with a deposit. They did the same for me back in 2018. Don't know their current policy on that. Jeff

Fix for Connext Battery Voltage Issue - Confirmed

Yes, I can confirm my 2018 212X had both of these issues discussed on page 1 of this thread (1) the two batteries were tied together as noted in post 1, and I separated them per @Mainah's directions. Worked great. At that point my two batteries were finally reading differential voltages, much...

Speaker option in boat and on shore

If you decide you need another auxiliary battery, I think you could get a second deep cycle battery and wire it in parallel with the first auxiliary battery. That should double your available audio power reserve and both batteries would still be controlled by the auxiliary power switch. Jeff

    Tower speakers outside?

Not sure if you're talking about a Wet Sounds sound bar or the Icon 8's that came on the 242 Xe's, or something else. You can get speaker covers/cases for Wet Sounds tower speakers. But my guess is that a week isn't going to hurt anything. They should be plenty waterproof enough. I'd be more...

Speaker option in boat and on shore

For two amps, or even three, I've found that the single Auxiliary battery (two batteries total, including the cranking/system battery) are sufficient. I reference that in the thread I linked above about installing the Rev 8's and a third amp--after 5 years, I've never had an issue with one...

Speaker option in boat and on shore

No, I think what you are describing is a parallel setup between your mid cabin and bow speakers. So long as both speakers are receiving a positive signal from the amp to both positive terminals of the speakers, and a negative signal from the negative terminal of the amp to both negative...

Speaker option in boat and on shore

For boating purposes, I think the easiest way to think about it is that if a pair of speakers are wired to an amplifier channel in parallel, the positive and negative leads of EACH speaker goes to the positive and negative leads (respectively) of that channel. In series, the positive lead from...

Speaker option in boat and on shore

In case you might find it helpful, @Wright2e, here's a writeup of my installation of Rev 8's and additional amp from a couple years ago. https://jetboaters.net/threads/wet-sounds-rev-8-upgrade-project.23722/#post-399096 Jeff

Wet Sounds Rev 8 Upgrade Project

I don't think I ever responded to this question--apologies SCP1. I have the swivel mounts that @Hoyt gave a detailed photo explanation of earlier in this thread, and highly recommend them. Another cool feature of the swivels is that they are easily disconnected with no wires, so if you also...

Speaker option in boat and on shore

That is outstanding information, @jacoviii. I spent at least 8 hours mapping my 2018 212X audio system, to get to similar information on my boat. And what I found was an absolute wiring mess. Glad that Yamaha finally got their act together on the Wet Sounds wiring. I'm assuming the stock...

Considering Buying a 2016 AR190, Weird Hesitation / Top Speed Problem on Lake Test HELP!

Yes, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the torque spec on the 1.8 HO for spark plugs is 18-21 ft lbs. Just torqued mine to 20 last week with no problem.

Speaker option in boat and on shore

Is Yamaha still wiring Wet Sounds speakers in series? If so, that's the first thing to change. Ideally, one speaker per channel, adding enough amps to do so, if necessary. If you need to run two sets of speakers on any channel, they should be in parallel, not series, as that's how the Wet...

Considering Buying a 2016 AR190, Weird Hesitation / Top Speed Problem on Lake Test HELP!

Just to chime in here--If you want to invest the money (under $35) put some new plugs in it while you're doing the compression check, and, if they will let you, take it out on the water again after doing so. Don't be fooled by the fact that the plugs that come out of there will likely look...

    2019 212 Limited S stereo uprade

I did the same as Dave Burke (I'm the white area below the console) several years ago. Reversing the drill first works well. Also suggest taping the area you are going to drill with blue painters tape. It's nerve wracking taking a large hole saw to your nicely finished fiberglass, but it...

Check Engine Lights--Both Engines--No Apparent Issues

So, reporting back after the trip to the dealer today. They hooked their YDS reader up and it showed two "Ignition System" codes on the Port engine (Code 233 and 231) and one "Ignition System" code on the Starboard engine (Code 232). The tech was virtually certain this was the result of what...

Check Engine Lights--Both Engines--No Apparent Issues

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you, but the fact that I had both engines missing for about 10 minutes while it cleared itself out (because the boat had been sitting awhile) each generating a check engine light, and then both engines cleared and ran great (buy.the lights stayed...

Check Engine Lights--Both Engines--No Apparent Issues

Well, disconnected both batteries yesterday and then let it sit overnight. Same issues. Even repeated the 5 starts process without success. It's going to the dealer tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestion Neutron. Will report back on what they find. Jeff

Thank you Neutron. Will give it a try. Jeff

Check Engine Lights--Both Engines--No Apparent Issues

Bringing this up to the top, but I'm guessing the lack of responses indicates that maybe there's not much more to try here short of bringing it to the dealer or buying Maptuner to reset it. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Jeff
