    Mid-Cabin Speaker Placement--Opinions Appreciated

I did consider that position. My recollection is that the problem on the 212X is that there wasn't as much space above the cupholder on that boat as was available on the 24 foot models. I couldn't find a way to make it work there that I was happy with. That's why I went below the throttles.

Wet Sounds Rev 8 Upgrade Project

I have another thread from probably 9 months earlier about mounting the mid cabin speakers. I will need to go back and find it. Traveling at the moment so it may take some time. I bought a 100ft roll of tinned copper 14 gauge. Don't remember how much I used for the mid cabins, as I basically...

    Yamaha 2021 252XE

Just a thought: put your phone on video, set it in there, close the lid and record for 10 minutes or so. Probably can check your fridge light the same way. Jeff

    Lake Mead

I continue to be amused by the folks who are surprised by the dead bodies at the bottom of Lake Mead. It's the largest body of water closest to a city built by the Mob. What did they expect to find down there?

What are you watching on TV? Favorite Shows? <name the service used>

It's excellent. And if you have Amazon Prime, I suggest Bosch Legacy. The two shows are on different streaming services but based on novels written by the same person (Michael Connelly). Spoiler alert in case you don't already know: Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller are half brothers. The whole...

Terminal List is outstanding. Also really graphic. Coming from a person who really likes action stuff. The Old Man is very good as well. Love watching old dudes kick ass. Jeff Bridges, Liam Neeson.

Want to buy a scarab '22 215id out of state but can't get local support.

I am wondering if there's an option, like with car dealers, to transfer the boat from the Indiana dealer to the Virginia dealership and then buy it from them? Seems like the Indiana dealer shouldn't care much since he's getting out of the Scarab business, and the Virginia dealer has an...

One picture of your last outing.

Oh yeah, it's really low. The alternate ramp they are using where we launch at Markley Cove (if you know that area) is one that hasn't been used in years, and even that one is in the last stages of usability. In the picture, we are way out in the middle of the lake, maybe 4-5 miles from...

One picture of your last outing.

Just a nice morning on the lake with my wife and me. Hit the ramp before 9 a.m. on Lake Berryessa here in Northern California. First time we've been out this season because, well, there's just not much water anywhere. Many of the lakes here are now not boatable. Those that are, are resorting...

Extending Tower Retention Cables--2018 212X--Thanks Haknslash

Great find! Reading the description, it looks like they extended the cable 5 1/2 inches and the threaded end 5/8" to get the 6" total additional length I had originally spliced in. If they are manufactured/roll pressed well, this is definitely the way to go. Jeff

    Mid-Cabin Speaker Placement--Opinions Appreciated

Hope the weather is decent in NZ right now, albeit cold. Your plan sounds good. Assuming you have the Polk PA4A HU (Yamaha changed HU's near the end of 2018), you will find two pairs of RCA outputs (4 channels total. R/L Front/Rear) behind the helm. You can run them to a separate amp to do...

    Mid-Cabin Speaker Placement--Opinions Appreciated

So, it's been a few years, but the original Yamaha wiring for the DSP Wet Sounds amp (new for 2018) had a lot of Yamaha factory problems. I basically rewired my entire audio system on the output side of the amp. The original DSP HTX 6 now runs the bow speakers on channels 1 & 2, the sound bar...

Extending Tower Retention Cables--2018 212X--Thanks Haknslash

My guess is yes, but I haven't personally seen the 212S retention system. It will be easier without the ballast tanks.

Extending Tower Retention Cables--2018 212X--Thanks Haknslash

Good luck and congratulations on the order! My guess is that with 96 inches of clearance and a little engineering on the tower retention system, you will be able to make it work. Although no one (other than Yamaha) knows what the tower retention will look like yet. Jeff

Extending Tower Retention Cables--2018 212X--Thanks Haknslash

Not sure what you are asking--like using a cable from say a 212X on a 195? Interesting idea. As noted in my original post, the 2018 212X stock cable is exactly 20 inches long from tip of the barrel to tip of the thread. If that length is what is needed on a 192 or 195 to get to the desired...

Extending Tower Retention Cables--2018 212X--Thanks Haknslash

Based on what I went through to extend mine, I don't think they can simply be sourced in the length you need. The end which goes into the block and the end with the threaded connector need to be roll pressed onto the correct length wire rope/cable. This is the business of commercial rigging...

    Bimini top and wakeboarding

Yes. Please see my post #7 above from last year. We just put it up in the lowest position on our 2018 212X a couple weeks ago. No wetting involved. We hadn't deployed the Bimini in a year, so it was tight. We initially put it in the second position and left it in the hot sun for half an...

Fix for Connext Battery Voltage Issue - Confirmed

The current draw on that sensing wire is so small, and the run is so short, you could easily use smaller wire (like 16 or 18 gauge) and it wouldn't make a difference. But if I recall correctly, I used some leftover 14 gauge wire, simply because it looked about the same size as the one I cut...

New AR240 clean out plug stuck.

I use 3M silicon paste instead of the spray on my 2018 with the same plugs you have. The paste seems to stay on a bit longer. But they've always rotated easily in the ports since the boat was new. Does the set tab rotate easily when the plug is out? If so, it sounds like you simply have plugs...

    2018 212X Audio System Brand/Setup--Change from 2017?

Glad you are making progress. As much as I love the Wet Sounds hardware, I really don't know what Yamaha was thinking in terms of setting.our systems up. I ended up replacing the DSP HTX-6 amp with the tunable/standard version. I can tell you that it does not come close to overheating or...
