Metallic rattling from the prop after stick removal

+1 these things are noisy/rattly at idle both in and out of water, far more out of water. More of a constant/fast "clunking" than anything. Mine has done it since it was brand new back in 2013, no issues.

    Broken Mooring Cover Clips

They held up perfectly for me... eventually purchased a new cover for other wear/tear reasons, but never had problems with these.

Miles per season you trailer your boat

My trailer gets approximately 2 miles per year ... from the marina across the street to my driveway and back. I worry about it rotting away in the outdoor storage over the summer ... but I do visit it a couple times per summer to 303 the sensitive parts. :) It's amazing how 303 preserves the...

SMD DD-1 Distortion tool, Anyone used one?

Thanks for the info guys ... I went ahead and bought one. It was very easy to use with clear instructions. It seems to have worked quite well, and I was surprised to see no headunit distortion at full volume with the Clarion CMD7.

Putting vents in battery/aft portside storage

2016 Yamaha AR190 Dual Battery Install -- How to isolate Factory Stereo Power to New House Battery?

I have a fuse for each positive power cable appropriately sized for each device powered by the battery (3 fuses: one for head unit and one for each of two amplifiers). Here is a good guideline article on fusing: http://www.caraudiohelp.com/newsletter/fuse_size.html If you're just hooking up a...

2016 Yamaha AR190 Dual Battery Install -- How to isolate Factory Stereo Power to New House Battery?

Another positive... when you start your engine(s), radio keeps on a-goin' ! :D

My First Date with Hot Sauce

Black hull here... hot sauce is my best friend. A good normal cleaning (typically doesn't remove the water spots at all) then mist the hot sauce on the hull while still wet, NOT in any direct sun. Let sit for a minute or so and wipe off with a 100% american made cotton towel or microfiber towel...

    Battery Help for Stereo

I just bought an XS Power XP3000 AGM isolated/dedicated for stereo for a ~600W system... so far so good. 120Ah 240min RC, keeps me going for 5-6 hours at medium-high volume before it gets to about 12V. Topped off nightly with shore power at my slip. Was a bit difficult to get on the boat down...

2016 Yamaha AR190 Dual Battery Install -- How to isolate Factory Stereo Power to New House Battery?

I've got an isolated/dedicated stereo battery; I ran a new pair of 10ga wires and hooked it up directly to it. I didn't want to mess with the factory wiring. Wasn't difficult to run the wire, just ran it under the fuel hatch... a cable fishing tool of some sort helps a lot. Always make sure any...

    2013 AR240 JL Audio Upgrade

The amps are mounted side-by-side to the fiberglass floor in the battery compartment, elevated slightly for cooling efficiency. Not the prettiest of installs, but all of the wires are routed neatly and my power wire runs are only 16-22" using 4Ga wire, with a WetSounds WW-CB60 60A circuit...

    2013 AR240 JL Audio Upgrade

Some additional notes for anyone considering similar setup ... Run time: The completely isolated Optima D34M dual purpose marine deep cycle (55Ah, 120 minute RC) powers the system (Headunit + JL 400/4 and JL 600/1) for about 3 hours at moderate to high volume before dropping below 12V, at which...

SMD DD-1 Distortion tool, Anyone used one?

I used this method: https://jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204374120-Amplifier-Level-Setting-Guide ... would the SMD DD-1 give a more accurate tune?

    2013 AR240 JL Audio Upgrade

Long time coming ... finally (almost) done. I replaced all four of these junky things that came with the boat: http://www.asaelectronics.com/marine-audio-speaker.html Upgraded to the JL MX650 in the factory locations. Easy install... did have to drill new holes, which was very simple and very...

    Headunit direct replacement?

If you want a bit more economical solution ... Dedicated/Isolated Battery for Stereo - question

The Optima D34M is a dual purpose deep cycle with a manageable weight/size and excellent reserve capacity that I was able to purchase new for just under $200. I don't plan on ever discharging it "too far"; using it solely for a moderate sound system with a JL XD 400/4 and 600/1, and is charged...

Dedicated/Isolated Battery for Stereo - question

Hi all, thanks for the info! I went ahead and plumbed new power/ground to the head unit, it's now powered off the dedicated stereo/amp battery, so the entire system is now ran from my trusty Optima D34m. No more popping, remote turn on works, and stereo stays running during engine start. All...

Dedicated/Isolated Battery for Stereo - question

You are correct in that the head unit does not have common grounds to the amps... and I believe this is causing the popping sound. My original question was: could the popping sound harm the speakers? I don't think it can, it's not that loud, but just want to make sure. There shouldn't be a fire...

Dedicated/Isolated Battery for Stereo - question

Sorry for the confusion ... the boat came with one battery for everything (2013 AR240), I added another single/standalone battery specifically/only for the JL amp and the Bazooka amp, so now I have two batteries total in the boat.

Dedicated/Isolated Battery for Stereo - question

Howdy everyone, hopefully a rather quick question here ... I have a dedicated and completely isolated, i.e. standalone, battery for my amps. The head unit is still powered off the primary / main battery. This set up works great for me; as if I completely drain the stereo battery, my primary is...
