Bargains What A Deal!!!! <Post up Bargains Here>

Not mine, but what looks like a good deal on an AR230 out of Longview, TX area. The guy keeps lowering the price every couple of days. It's down to $8500 now. https://easttexas.craigslist.org/boa/6736158058.html

    Google Street View

Wow, somebody resurrected an old [but fun] thread. I was happy to see Google picked up a couple of skis in the driveway of my lake house.

    Lake Livingston - Texas

It depends on the time of year, @WilCo. This time of year, it's not unusual to get wind blowing out of the west or northwest, and that will hammer you on the Livingston State Park side. In the summer the wind almost always blows from the southwest and it'll be nice and calm there. I am way up...

Is it possible to bucket flush engines when no hose spout present?

If you want to flush then tow the boat to somewhere with a hose after you take it out of the water. But really, flushing is not necessary if you are running in fresh water. Only if running in salt or brackish water. In that case too you'll want the hose to spray off the entire pump area and...

    Bearing greasing VX DELUX 2017

Keep in mind the grease is simply a secondary water seal. It has nothing to do with lubrication as the internal bearings are hermetically sealed. -Greg

    2011 VX110 Deluxe Oil Change

No, not with the motor in the ski. If the motor is out of the ski, there is a 13mm bolt under the oil pump housing that will completely drain the oil pan. -Greg

Drive on jet ski dock recommendations

Do some research here, on greenhulk.net and pwctoday.com. I've read where some of the drive-on docks can be hard on the NanoXcel hulls. -Greg

    Renting out your boat.

I've never crunched the numbers but think there is money in a club model, based on most people not using the boats nearly as often as they intend. But you'd need to have scale, a booking system, and marina, in addition to all the other overhead (insurance, repairs, someone managing rentals)...

    GP1800?

I hear you, @swatski. And you are right that it must take many hours, and being prepared (and budgeted) for things to go boom. I admit that I've never written a tune, but I am a tech guy that grew up writing code, and have rebuilt many motors. On the RPM curve, various inputs influence...

Sea Doo LRV - What's it worth?

If it was in perfect condition, then a $3500 ask, and let it go for $3000. If not running <$1000. There is a lot of hull fading, and in one of the pics the upholstery looks bad, but then not bad in the other?? Hard to price w/o much better pics and more information: does it run? compression...

    impeller removal rotation..?

Heat up the threads before attempting prop removal. It can make a big difference. A propane torch is fine. -Greg

    2017 242 Limited S e-series on Copart

I use M97 Auto Parts, and don't have the live bid restriction. You put down a deposit with the broker, and every $400 gets you $4000 of bidding, but only on a single item. Their broker fee is $250 + what Copart charges the broker (passed on to you). Even though those motors are rusty, they also...

Engine over heating, no pee hole water

You can also disconnect the intake hose where it goes into the Y fitting, and blow an air hose through it. -Greg

    Yamahalube

I've used Yamaha Ring Free a few times on high-hour MR1s that started to consume oil, and after a couple of tanks of fuel they stopped consuming oil. The additive is supposed to help loosen the buildup that causes the steel rings rings to stick inside the piston grooves. I'm a believer. -Greg

2010 Yamaha 240SX Shaft seal leak at hull

Yes. That is correct. You can test by tilting the boat up as far as you can, and then filling the back end up with water so it covers the pump tunnel. Look for leaks outside the boat.

2010 Yamaha 240SX Shaft seal leak at hull

@Paul Howland assuming this is the source of the water leak, take a look at this diagram. Part #4 includes a rubber insert that mates to part #16; this in combination with oil seal #8 form a watertight seal...

    2017 242 Limited S e-series on Copart

Good ol copart. That is where I bought my AR210 last year, but here in Houston. Let's hope they cover up those engine parts so the internals don't get rained on and do further damage. -Greg
