Might be a stupid question but I noticed the 1.9s call for the NGK LFR6A Spark Plug. Yamaha has them as LFR6A000-00-00 but I’ve also come across LFR6A 6668 on Amazon and elsewhere. Are these the same? Or are the Yamaha ones slightly different?

I know my 1.8 takes the LFR6A from NGK (though I have read on here that they were sold and now have a new name... not Amazon :) ). Pretty sure the Yamaha number is just their number for the same plug.

The 6668 version I have no idea. But I would be surprised if it were different. I do know that the LFR6 is different from the LFR6A (different gapping, if I recall), so those are not interchangeable.

Also: The LFR6A-11 are different too.

Gap is a non issue in spark plugs. As you should be gapping the plugs to spec before install either way. I never trust gap from the factory.

6668 is just the stock number for the LFR6A
Same plug

Some have expressed concern over bending the plug too much in adjusting. In theory, if you buy the right one, it should minimize whatever adjustments you need.

You should always check the gap. Never trust the factory gap. Takes a second to verify and adjust if needed.

All the N/A 1.8's and the new 1..9 take the LFR6A spark plugs. Yamaha's part number is just longer because of their numbering system.

Exactly, it's mechanics 101 from what I am told. I am just a Youtube mechanic (smile)

There is just no reason to pay more for a plug that is hard to find, or gapped to a particular spec, when the actual plug is identical. You buy the LFR6A knowing they are all identical, and just gap it. Theoretically you are only doing it one time, so there is little issue with hurting it.
