Just purchased a new 2017 195 HO a month ago. The dealer i bought from told me to take her in when I'm at 20 hours for the break in maitenance.

I'm 15 hours into my break in period and got the check engine light. Do the check engine light come on when you need maitenance done like the break in period? Coolant and oil levels are good. I don't see/hear any issues using the boat when the light came on.

Just trying to make sure that the light comes on for maitenance. If not, is there a way to check what the code is??

A check engine light is a little engine light, and if set a code will be in the information center. The maintenance light is a little wrench and the information center will flash MAINTENANCE required.

There's no trick you need to do to get the fault codes for the check engine light? I don't see any codes listed in the information center .

I have this... but I have yet to encounter any. So your mileage may vary:
  • With safety lanyard on its post, and the engine in start mode (but engine off) press 5 times the SET button to start the display of P-codes (onboard diagnostic).
  • Press MODE to scroll codes if more than one is present. When "list" is over, END will appear.
  • When END appears, press MODE to exit

Thanks. I tried that but it didn't display any codes... Coolant and oil levels are good. I don't see/hear/feel any issues with the boat running. Maybe the engine light had afalse reading

I believe the light can be on if you have a low battery voltage. Is that a possibility? Trying... lol Otherwise, not sure...

I wouldn't think it would be a low battery voltage since it's a new boat... How do you check for low battery voltage?

Just with a multi-meter. Check the voltage right at the battery terminals. Without doing a proper load test... you can at least get a general idea of the condition of the battery. Here's a chart I use to check. I also installed a USB port that has a built in voltmeter. It's nice because I can see my battery voltage at all times... great when running the radio on my single battery and when the engine isn't on.

And you can definitely have a low voltage on a new battery... it's about if there's a drain on it without recharging it. Examples are running the stereo without the engine on for a while, bilge pump running again without the engine... etc.

Which light is it, the engine or the wrench? The little engine is check engine, and the wrench is Maintenance required.

Thanks for the info. I bought a battery voltage reader that plugs into the cig lighter and it's awesome to know if I'm draining the battery from playing music while the engine is off...

Anyways, the check engine light came off after riding it for an hour or two. Then the next day I brought it in to the dealer to do the break in maitenance and had them look into the check engine light. They said it was a misfire but couldn't get the check engine light back on so it should be good. I dropped it in after and rode it around for a couple hours and no check engine light. So I'm guessing I should be good.
