Hey everyone! I am wanting to upgrade the stock battery on my 2020 195s. I am looking at the Odyssey AGM Pure Lead batteries but they are hard to come by. I have been told to look at the X2 Power batteries as well. I have a completely stock stereo but tend to spend more time on the anchor listing to music than I do running the boat. I noticed at the end of last year the voltage showing on the screen was around 11.7 after sitting for a bit listening to music. I am curious of 2 things:
1. Does anyone have experience with either of the 2 referenced batteries?
2. Does anyone know if a Group 27 will fit in the factory battery spot on a 2020 195s?

I am also open to any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

1. I don't have personal experience with either of those batteries, but I understand they are both excellent. I currently have a Duracell AGM that is working well for me, although I also have the stock battery on board as a backup.

2. I'm virtually certain that a Group 27 will NOT fit in the factory hull cutout area on a 195. It's close but not long enough (you'd have to measure exactly to be sure).

3. If you are worried and are not going to add a second battery, then I suggest you carry a lithium battery jump pack on board in case you drain the battery down too much. Something like the NOCO GB40 is a good option to have onboard for peace of mind.

4. Keep in mind that the battery voltage reported by the Connext screen is usually lower than reality. Mine can be up to a 0.5 volts lower. I have separate battery voltage meters that show me the real state of things. The easiest solution would be a voltage meter that you can simply plug into the 12v cigarette power port. My personal solution was to replace the usb/aux-in audio plug (I didn't use it) with a usb charger that included a voltage meter. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PTZ17NS/

Thanks for the information!! I too think I am going to keep the stock battery on board as a backup. Good idea.

1. I have had a Duracell AGM as bat #2 for 3 seasons, worked well so far. Bat #1 is an X2 Power, I was going to buy the Odyssey but after some research it looked like Northstar (X2 Power) was making a better product so I went that route. So far so good. Biggest thing with AGM's is having a charger, you want to keep them plugged in and conditioned.
2. Best to measure, I don't think Yamaha left any extra room.
3. There are options for second battery trays but they would eat into storage space. I like having two batteries purchased at least 1 year apart on the boat, give less of a chance that one will fail mid trip.

I have the Odyssey AGM. No issues what so ever.

Thanks! I ended up purchasing the X2 Power Group 24 AGM Pure Lead battery due to availability.

The boat stays in rack storage so keeping a maintenance charger on it isn’t an option. I plan to pull the new AGM battery at the end of the season to keep stored at the house and charged.
