Hi everyone,
The noise in this boat drives me crazy. I installed Kilmat over the hatch and that helped, but not as much as I want. So I bought an intermediate foam to put over the Kilmat, and Second Skin MLV to put over THAT.
The photo is the engine hatch with a layer of Kilmat, which kills the vibration. I will keep working on the next two layers and will post photos when I'm done. I am curious ... this is a phenomenal amount of very unpleasant work. I don't want to remove the hatch completely (seems like that would be difficult) so I am working upside down, installing one piece at a time.
I would pay a fortune if I didn't have to do all of this measuring. If I could buy a set of templates for this boat for $200 so I could cut all three layers to fit, go to the boat once for installation and be done with it, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I am wondering if anyone else would, too. It would be even more work for me to do this perfectly, rather than what I'm doing now: get everything close and then do some spot patching. But if people have interest in these templates, I'll take the time to get everything perfect and sell them. I am also thinking about offering a full-service option — I won't send the templates, I'll send all three layers, pre-cut and labeled.
I believe the 2004-2006 SX230s are identical ... not sure about AR, SR, and 232 models. But if they have the same hatch dimensions, it would give me a pretty good market to make it worth the extra effort of getting things perfect.
What do you think, friends? If you had one of these boats (they're LOUD at 10,000 RPM!!), would you pay $200 for the perfect templates, or $500 for the three pre-cut layers?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
