Hi, I just picked up a nice 2012 SX190 yesterday, one thing has me confused and I cant find an answer on the web, I'm sure it's there but I can't locate it.

The boat does not have a battery cut off switch, I can pull the tether & turn the key to off and all the electronics still function, radio, bilge, lights ect.

I've been over the boat like 10 times and still no luck, when I asked the prior owner where it was he told me it did not have one, that cant be right.

Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

On my 14’ the switch is under the back seat on the passengers side attached to the engine bay wall. Adding a switch wouldn’t be hard and you can find them real cheap on amazon. I replaced mine with a dual switch so I could add a second battery.

Your battery switch and battery should be located in the port rear storage compartment. It's possible someone could have relocated it but I find it very hard to believe your boat doesn't have a battery switch or else the battery would just die at some point.

I have a 2013 SX 190 and here is a pic of what you should see under the port (left) side rear compartment under the rear seat. The red switch is what you are looking for.
The up and down position is off the side to side is the on position.

Thanks for the responses, that is missing in my boat, I will go check for screw holes. The guy who I bought it from was a nice older guy and told me that there were no modifications done. I'm getting it ready for a week on an island, I will be prepared with a power supply to jump the boat if needed but I want this setup correctly.

My 2012 SX190 had no switch from the factory. I had to install one.

I was just trying to look up parts numbers for your 2012 and it "appears" that the battery switch was not included in that year but starting in 2013...Here is the PAGE for the part numbers and the part is #18. I see that boats . net has them for about $50. If you are looking to add a battery later you may want to go with a dual switch on the initial install, that way when you need the 2nd battery the switch will be ready to go...Good luck on the island!

That seems a bit crazy, I've never seen a boat without one, but from what you found and what the prior owner told me that must be correct.

I'm going to check the manual on the function of the ignition switch, perhaps it's malfunctioning and everything should shut down in the off position, I like to keep everything close to stock as possible.

Thanks.

Whoa that's crazy Yamaha didn't add it until the 2o13 models. Who makes a boat but doesn't use a friggin battery switch?!?!

Thankfully they aren't super expensive and you'll know it's installed and wired correctly if you do it yourself.

I really wouldn't freak out about it, I have had several boats that did not have a battery switch. I had a 2012 190 and don't recall the switch, need to look up my notes to see what I did when I replaced battery.
I recall there was some issue in the 190 with the JBL stereo losing presets etc. so consider that if adding a switch, which is very easy w/many choices, also your bilge pump should be always powered (fused) if wet slipping.

I'll probably run it next week without the switch, I don't want to start messing around right before a vacation. The prior owner had it this way for 6 years, I should be fine for the next 10 days. The things I need to investigate are the best location to drill holes and how to power the bilge when the battery is off. My last boat '03 Seadoo Utopia you couldn't turn the bilge off, it was automatic and worked perfect.

If it's auto sensing bilge pump I wouldn't worry about it. I think someone on here said it would take weeks for a battery to drain if just the bilge pump was cycling during that time. It checks for water every few mins.
