Good morning!

The tachometer on our 2013 SX199 now has an unreadable LCD screen. The gauge functions and has power but I guess the polarizing film is shot. The only real function I use it for is the fuel level and I don’t want to boat without it. Noticed it starting to be difficult to read a couple years ago and it’s finally unreadable. Live and boat in SC, boat stays covered in storage.

I got the dash cluster removed but for the life of me, I cannot get that plastic nut off the back of the tach to remove the gauge. I only found a couple older posts on here about it. Looks like the solution is to Dremel it off? I think it’s a 4 inch nut, and that should be a pretty easy find at a hardware store, right?

Lastly, any recommendations on a repair? I’m going to message the dude, Carlos I think, on eBay I’ve seen mentioned on here, and there’s another website, GaugeSaver, that repairs the LCD but they don’t bench test it when they’re done. Looking for anyone who can vouch for either of these folks.

So…. Question 1: best way to remove the plastic nut? And where to get the replacement?

Question 2: Recommendations on who to go to for repair.

Thanks!

I used a wrench to remove oil filters, bought the polarizing film from amazon, you need two small films front and rear. But the best bet is send it to a service repair, trust me!
