My insurance agent wants to know the value of the boat and trailer I am buying. 2015 AR240 I don't want to overstate the value of the trailer and get overcharged but don't want to under value the trailer either. Help here would be great.

The trailer is included with the value of the boat when you look it up on the NADA guide.IMG_2087.jpeg

These boats are sold as a combo with a shorelandr trailer. So there really is no separate value

I assigned mine a value of $5000 when I purchased my boat, and reduced the price of the boat by that much.

In IL we only pay sales tax on the boat, not the trailer. This allowed me to save a couple $. Also, I paid cash for the trailer and financed the boat. If I ever want to get a different trailer for any reason, I have title in hand and don’t have to refinance the boat to try to pull it out for a clean trailer title.

It would be fairly easy to find a comparable trailer for $5k, so I felt like I could justify this. (You can also find trailers for less than that price of better quality).

That’s helpful. I know it’s included with the boat even new but it does have its own vin number so my insurance makes it insure separately.

I added it as a $5000 item on my insurance and there was no additional charge for that it was included in the same price as just for the boat insurance.
