Having an issue with my 2016 Scarab 195 HOURS impulse.

Soon as I turn the key on I get an Ereverse error code and a very loud beep. Fault code shown is U0410. Been doing my due diligence over this last week looking over all the form pages and posts I can find on this issue and I’ve attempted the following fixes so far with no success. I also have a BUDS system and the COM light will go solid for a few seconds right when I turn on the boat but will then got to a few flashing green lights and or red flashing light and I’ve not been able make a successful connection (one the “read Data” lit up as the light had stayed solid green for a few moments longer then normal but light went away and no connection was made). I am using BUDS PowerPack P3.9.1

Reseated ECU connectors ( no sign of corrosion at all)

Changed out both engine bay fuse box relays for new ones

Changed 30 amp fuse box fuse out even though it tested good

Tested all fuses and all tested good with multi meter

Reseated all fuses in engine bay fuse box

Tested all fused and reseated fuses in helm fuse box

Tried a new fresh battery tested to be good and fully charged

Cleaned battery contacts

Checked for power at IBR 2 wire connector, tested good

Reseated IBR connector and inspected (no signs of corrosion)

Took apart IBR actuator and inspected motor, motor tested good when disconnected and manual operated with external battery

Checked IBR inline fuse located near battery disconnect

Can someone please confirm that my relay is in the correct orientation? The top left one can only go in one way but the bottom right relay can be flipped 180 degrees.

Not sure what to try or check at this point I’ve run out of ideas. Any suggestions or input is appreciated, thanks.

Also there is some sort of SCOM or extra module plugged into the diag port? It was just hanging out there not attached to anything. Tried connecting with BUDS with and without it attached.

Also I should add:

Messed with safety lanyard switch near shifter, testing with multi meter to confirm it’s functional and even tried bypassing the switch by shorting the top wire connections as it’s a “NO” switch.

Correct for relay orientation.

That module controls your inr and possibly other features such as ski mode if equipped. They aren't cheap.

You've definitely done a lot of what I'd recommend as troubleshooting. So I don't have any other ideas. Sorry.

Thanks for the info. If you do come up with something let me know. At this point I wonder if replacing the whole module would fix the issue?

It is possible if the module is failing. But it isn't cheap from what I know. I saw prices close to 1k USD. The likelihood of that module failing is low... but can't discount it. But you've done everything I can think of off hand. I'll definitely ping you if I have an epiphany.

Tap it gently with a sledgehammer?

I mean, your list to date is pretty complete (generally, Luc would be our SME on Scarabs particularly). But I will ask the one dumb question not yet asked:

Anything change on the boat before the issue appeared? Change any part or do any maintenance? Or just spontaneous?

Haha yeah I’ve tried just giving it a few taps but no difference. Unfortunately I’m not sure this is my first season with the boat, received it this way and with no way to access the original owner.

Ah, so it has never run for you without the error? That stinks. Very difficult to diagnose, then...

But I put U0410 into Google and found the reverse module error info (here on this site). I assume you have already seen that...

Exactly, very very stinky 😅 yes I’ve traced through every article I can find. I’m at the point of it either being a bad ECU or bad INR and signs point towards INR I believe.

Definitely more likely to have a bad iNR over ECU. But both can happen. But I've seen a decent number of iNR being replaced to fix such issues. It's just that all the other things are more common with this error than a bad iNR.
