I am replacing my 2nd latch within 18 months of purchasing the boat. Anyone else having this problem? The latches are made of hard plastic with the exception of a tiny metal pin inside it that holds the engine compartment closed. My most recent one was already snapped when I went to open and clean the engine bay after a trip to the coast so I am wondering if maybe the compartment is not holding tight and bouncing while we are traveling on the highway. I have ordered some weather strips to lay down that I am hoping will help limit the bounce of the engine compartment. Just don't want to be replacing these latches every 6 months as they are close to 80$ a pop from Yamaha....

I've had plenty of failed circuit breakers on my 2019 210 GSH, but the latches have given me no issues.

Jeez knock on wood I haven't had any electronic issues thus far. Only somewhat electric issue I had was one of the kill switches in the engine hatch kept killing one of my motors when I would hit another boats wake or step on the swim platform. Once they replaced the kill switch haven't had any other issues.

My 2018 latches are made of metal. Maybe you can switch to those. However, in looking it up, I see they are $360 each.

One of my engine hatch latches just recently broke on my 2022 252 FSH. How difficult are they to replace?

Not sure if they're the same as the 210 but very easy. One big nut on the bottom side holding the 'pin' in and two bolts holding the latching mechanism on the hatch side.

Also... since posting above... both of my latches have had issues coming lose and breaking. Lots of stress on them and they probably need to have a better design since it effectively holds the seat and passengers in place.

Much appreciated. To open without the latch, do I insert a flathead screwdriver off-center to either side and lift? I haven't tried yet. Didn't have my glasses at the time but noticed the broken plastic latch attached on both ends.
