I recently bought a 2020 ar190. I have been getting a rattling noise just above idle rpm. I also get bad rattling grinding noise while pulling tubers while making a hard turn while under high rpm. Is this normal? Sure doesnt seem like it.

The low speed is probably normal. When I use no wake mode it is especially noisy at 2000 Rpm. I think it could be the reverse gate. But, It might be a problem, so until you get used to the different rattles I would examine the wear ring and impellers between uses. The high speed is probably cavitation. Probably need to modify turning technique and/or do a couple of mods. I'll wait for the experts chime in . Bottom line: if at low elevation your lightly loaded top speed is 35 to 37, top rpm 74 - 7500 , and impeller looks good. It's probably normal.

I say low speed marbles is normal and gets a bit better with break in. The high speed one sounds problematic, never had that kind of noise

I heard this same scary ass death rattle the last time I was out, after pulling tubes and cornering at medium speeds as well, taxiing back just above idle speed.

Luckily I performed a visual inspection around the perceived source of the noise.

Some freakin idiot on my boat left the ladder down!!!

Ive read around and the low speed noise seems to be normal. Its the high speed turn noise that worries me. It sounds bad. At the same time i had 2 big adults sitting on the rear platform while pulling the kids. I wonder if that had an affect.
How can you tell if it is cavitation?

How many hours? Have you had your break-in service performed yet? I just bought one too but have not pulled any tubers/ surfers to date but I plan to in the future. Your post has me a bit concerned though. If you end up on the water again and hear the noise, try and take a video with sound if possible.

Good Luck!

I have 12 hours. I went out again on the water today. I had people sit in different spot than yesterday. Didnt make a noise while turning under throttle. It myst of been cavitation like mwalker4 said. Yesterday all the adults were on the swim platform while under way and it made the noise. I had everyone sit in bow and rear seats and no noise was made.

Normal at low RPM. I've had two jet boats, one a Seadoo and now my 2020 SX 190. They make the same noise around 2k rpm that sounds like marbles rattling around. I think the hollow hull amplifies the rattle and makes it seem louder than it really is. Bump up the no wake mode another tick and it will go away.

Im genuinely wondering, do you know if thats legal where you're from? I've always wondered about letting people back there to video but it seems like it would be illegal.
Maybe it varies state to state as well

Legal or not, the holes underneath the backrest of the swim platform are a serious source of carbon monoxide.

Im not sure if sitting in the back is legal. Most people on that lake do it. We only did about 5-10 minute runs with them on the back. Either way, i think that was the cause of the noise. Too much weight in the back.

I second this. Make sure you check for the ladder - this is the only rattle I have had to deal with.

Just to clarify those holes are air vents for the engines and blowers so should not have any CO coming from there, some fumes maybe when you first fire it up, but not exhaust fumes. The CO comes from the exhaust ports under the swim platform beside the jetpumps. Off plane these ports are underwater and fumes can waft up from the platform which is why sitting at the back when the engines are running is not recommended. At planing speeds the ports are above water but moving out the back fast enough it's not an issue. But at those speeds, I wouldn't want to sit there as a quick turn can dump you off easily.

I've experienced this...idle, no wake 1 and 3 are fairly smooth, but no wake 2 becomes somewhat resonant and noisy.

The rear weight issue sounds like cavitation so problem solved?

Rear weight caused the cavitation. Problem solved. I have to pay attention where people are sitting in the boat

I heard the rattle on my 2020 ar190 today when flushing the engine. Never noticed it before but it went away after about a minute.
