242x ballast winterizing

First winter.
Boat will live in non heated garage.
Do I have to do anything to winterize the 3 stock ballast bags /lines, etc ..
(Bags look fully deflated).
..not sure if I should disconnect any lines to drain them, ...?

I put a gallon of RV antifreeze in each of my bags and disconnect the hose leading into my ballast pump.

I've been told that any chemical including antifreeze will make the polyester/pvc of the bags brittle. My boat will be stored outside and all I'm doing is disconnecting them to drain. I'll be a test case I suppose.

Kind of how I feel, too. I just remove the bags and store them indoor.

Oh sure @swatski - just make it so simple. Sheesh - I took my carpets out, bimini off, speaker bar off, and gear out to store indoors. The fact I didn't think to detach the bags and bring them indoors makes me feel quite dumb. More coffee needed.

I'd think that so long as the bags are empty and you've pulled the hoses off the pumps, then any residual water in there will have room to expand. Just like in the water boxes, so long as there's room for expansion, you should be OK.

Now, just remember to put those hoses back on come spring time!
