Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
Where do you mount it? I gave up on mounting my gopro in my boat. Mounted to the top bar of the wake tower, but on a hanging mount, the video was stable, but the border is still 65' out from the end of the boat, so not much to see.
This year I'm going to try one of the harnesses and wear it on the water with me. Mainly use the video just to improve form.
What exactly do you want to film? You doing water sports? If so i mount on the horizontal part of the Bimini frame. For wakeboarding you are a bit far away, but just record at full resolution and zoom in in an editing software

I usually mount if up about 3/4 of the way of the tower, facing forward (for timelapses of travel), or backward if trying to record watersports (pretty rare for me).

I have a Hero 9, with the time lapse function how many hours do you get out of the battery? That would be a fun thing to do. I know recording video, even at standard HD, i get maybe 30-40min before it's hot and done.
Same, hour or so max before the battery is done. When doing longer timelapses at home, I'll use a battery pack and leave the door open - probably safe to do on the boat, but it could get splashed.
