I have a 2023 AR220. In the water today and heard a pop then the starboard side engine vibrates like a broken engine mount. At very lows revs it seems ok but as soon as you give it a little throttle - it vibrates bad and doesn't sound right. So I limped back to the dock on one engine.

Any ideas? I took the cleaner port out and felt the blades and side walls and they felt okay - but not 100 percent.

If something got sucked up damaged prop. There was allot of foliage in the water. If that is what happened is the repair covered under the yamaha warranty?

Check the oil and spark plugs. Might have a spark plug that worked loose. Was the pop from the engine or impeller area?

We had a spark plug blow out of the ceramic years back on our big boat. Sounded like a gunshot went off and had to limp 20 miles on the port engine only. I would agree, spark plug may be the culprit and easy to identify if so.

While on the trailer and with the trailer engines off out both drive buckets up all the way by throttling all the way up. Shine a light through the pump from the back to verify both pumps are clear of all debris (fishing line, wood splinters/chunks, etc. you should be able to see each engine mount from the top of the engine bay. Consider wrenching on each mounting bolt to see if it’s secure, stripped, etc. unless things have changed each mount is held to the hill by two bolts, the engine is held to the mount by single larger bolt. Good luck with with the repair.

before I forget, I lost a spark plug on the water before. My Rpms dropped from 7600 wide open to 6000 wide open and it ran rough and would sometimes die while idling. The long term result was lower compression in the cylinder.

You probably just got something caught in the impeller and you could still have a piece in there.
You can’t feel everywhere through the port. You’ll have to get it on the trailer like @Ronnie said. You can inspect from behind and up underneath the boat.

As mentioned above you properly sucked something up, maybe a stick, and that is causing the issue. I’ve had this exact same thing happen to me on my AR220 last year. Pulled the clean out ports and couldn’t feel anything but the issue still persisted. After a few quick on/offs with the throttles and alternating between forward and reverse it dislodged itself and haven’t had the problem since.
