Time to upgrade audio.
I bought a 2008 212SS last year and the previous owner had upgraded the audio, but I am not happy with the set up and sound.

What I have now:
Original HU (Will replace)
Original 4 speakers (Should I replace them?)

Previous owner added:
2 JBL MPS1000 subwoofers (plan to keep)
4 JBL MS6200 speakers(2 are not working. Should I replace all?)
1 JBL MA6004 AMP (plan to keep)

I would like to replace the HU since it is PITA and I would like Bluetooth and zone controller. I want to be able to lower/turn off the volume of the swim deck speakers while cruising and vice versa while on the water. Wired remote control from the swimdeck is a good option as well.
Replace either two of the MS6200 that don’t work and the stock speakers, or all (8) including the stock ones. Should I buy a different brand/model to achieve better quality?

Since I am sending all the seats for upholstery as we speak, I will cut a hole and add two more speakers on the swim deck. Should I install 6 ½ round speakers or 6x9? for nice sound from the water. However I do not like the placement of the two MS6200 currently installed above the swim deck area, see pic below, because the sound goes upward and you cannot hear the speakers while you are on the water. What do you guys think, remove them from there, but how do I cover the 6 ½” holes? Or just leave them for a total of 10 speakers when I add the two facing back.

Remember I would not want to add another amplifier since the subs are already powered, and I don’t know if the MA6004 will be able to power 8 - 10 speakers.

I need recommendations for HU, Bluetooth with at least 2 zones control.
I was looking at the Rockford PMX-5 with the pmx-0R, easy replacement since I think it will go in the same spot as the current HU, but yay, expensive I think.

OK guys, I am all ears, what whould you do in my case?
I will post pictures of the before and after job for you all.

Look at the Fusion MS-UD750 for your HU. I'm in the process of upgrading to that + the wired control. Not cheap... but neither is anything else.

I've seen folks go with both the 6.5 and the 6x9 in the back. I've not had the balls to cut holes in my seats (yet). When I do, i'll go with the 6.5 - simply because I feel it gives me uniformity to all the other 6.5's i have. Plus everything is wetsounds and i'm not sure they make a 6x9. Plus i have 2 subs and 4 tower speakers so i don't really need 'fuller sound' back there.

As far as the 2 MS6200 - that is an odd place to put them. To me that would be a fairly useless placement. Not sure how you'd cover the holes, easily... so maybe replacing them would be a better option though could your amp now handle everything? Maybe a big cup holder? Don't do anything and just have them off for now.
