This may be a stupid question but is cutting the factory speaker harness a necessary step when installing an amp?

The amp's speaker harness is tapped into the existing harness and will adjust the sound based on different setting.

Unless you are running all new speaker wire, then yes. RCA out to the amp and cut and splice harness to amp or run new wire from amp to each speaker.

Hmm ok. I sure didnt but acted like the amp was adjusting the sound too which made me think the sound was coming out of rcas only
