What does everyone use for anchor rope storage options? I was using the crappy plastic spool that the rope comes on and of course, it slipped out of my hand and went straight to the bottom of the lake with my anchor. So I'm starting over and thinking about something like those reels that people use to roll up electric cords. Id like to be able to hold the reel while it unwinds and not have to let the rope slide through my hands.

The rope rests at the bottom of the anchor locker. When retrieving the line is set to rest at the bottom of the compartment. 14 years on old boat, 3 on this one, so far no ill effects, and no need to wrap or manage. Just tie the bitter end to the boat eye hook plate before you stow it for the first time, so you never lose the end of the rope. No need to wind/unwind, just toss in as you recover, and let line out as you release the anchor. Less is more.

I always kept my dock lines and stuff in there under my anchor so there wasnt room for the rope. Guess I need to rearrange and use the anchor locker for what's really for.
