So my 2009 sx230 is sitting offsite and I was wondering what size cooler will fit under the port side middle seat when it is laid down. (Backrest folded against the storage compartment)

I think I want to go with a soft bag cooler vs getting stuff out from under the cooler under the bow seat.

What is everyone else doing for that?

What has everyone done in the storage/head area for storing stuff vs having it all on the floor.

Thanks for your comments.

Thanks that is what I was looking for. I hope they will run them on sale during the off season.

One more question. Does it keep the ice frozen for the entire day?

It just so happens they have an "end of summer" sale going on through 9/30.
10% discount using the code "SUMMER16"

They usually have 10% discount for all the major holidays and usually a 15% discount on Father's Day.

Thanks for the information on the sale. I will have to go take a look.

It will depend on how many times you are in and out of the cooler. I'll put it this way, we load it up full with drinks and ice in the morning and it's still cold enough to drink beers when cleaning the boat in the driveway. By that time it's ice water but I'm talking 8-10 hours after launch. I like he fact it's soft side and feel the benefits outweigh the drawbacks relative to performance. We often use a smaller soft side with ice packs for food and the big AO to load up on drinks.

thanks for the info. I was looking for something that would be out of the way most of the time and easy to get in and out of.

I think that the AO would work for you nicely! Let me know if you want to see it with the passenger Seat up and reclined. I'll dig for some pics

I would be the first to agree that the AO coolers have worked very well for us as we have a pair of the canvas 24's. I will also be the first one to share my disappointment with the liners in these coolers.

At first, we avoided bottles, as there was a chance of bottle caps cutting the liner. Then we were worried about dented cans cutting the liners. Now, it seem that anything including the fold near the zipper will cut the darn liner. Of course, with a cut liner, they still hold ice very well, but what does melt immediately leaks, and soaks the canvas outside and anything touching it.

I ordered a patch kit, and it was a glorified ski tube repair kit. And that actually helped and sealed up what tears we had. Of course, in short order, there were more holes and leaks. I could ship them back for a new liner, but if it's as durable as the original, that seems like a waste.

So honestly, as much as I love these coolers for what they do, I hate the money wasted on what has turned into a leaky bag. What do you guys put in them that will not tear the inside?

Knock wood... I never use bottles/ glass on the boat. Typical payload attached in the picture

Same here, no glass in the boat. But the cooler has been used elsewhere with bottles. That being said, as soon as an empty can gets stuffed back in the cooler, it dents and tears the cooler. If only people would put empties in the garbage all the time.

I am totally jinxing it for me now, we use trash bags for empties. They don't go back into the cooler and we don't use this cooler except for boat. I have heard AO will replace; I would check it out with their cost service. I will dig around and see if I can find a linky

Thanks for digging, that is exactly what I found too. I could not give up my coolers at the time, so they offered up the repair kit for the cost of shipping. It did help. I may re-line mine and start a no-empty rule for these coolers. We use them year around, so it's not like I don't like them. I just don't like them wet.

Don't let my experience sway you in any way. I would still recommend these coolers. Just set the rules early as to how they should be used as stated above.

Thanks. Never thought of it ripping. I have a similar cooler. It is Polar Bear sure it is a knock off of an AO canvas, but it was a freebie and it does a great job so far. (it only holds about a dozen cans or bottles) Inside is pretty thick.

This so far is what we use the most. can be a pain if there is something in the bottom you want, but it is extremely durable. We tried it because we had a gift card. I would buy another one for sure. We use it on open caterman sailboats, at the beach, going to parites etc. We have had it for over a year, with crushed beer cans accidently getting tossed in it. No tears or rips yet. Also had a buddy that dropped it on the ground not realizing that was a 1/2 gallon glass vodka bottle in it... no tears...
