1998 MERCURY Sportjet 175, when to turn the ignition key to the on position, I heard a beep at the dash (normal), but I also hear a arc or snap sound from the engine at the same time, any idea what it could be?

Check the fuel pump and its circuit. That should go on when you turn to 'on', right? Not sure what else would be energized before you move to 'start'...

how about the Cold Start Solenoid?

OK it the cold start solenoid, still only get 80 vdc from my NEW stator (blue wire) ????

I thought that the cold start solenoid only triggered when you flip to start? No?

I don’t know - the noise went away when I disconnected it

Well, that would be a pretty clear indication as to where the problem is... Learn something new everyday around here.

Yeah still have no spark after changing stator, trigger and flywheel
Only getting 89 VDC on the blue stator wire - would a bad switch box cause this

Should be ~180v, right? Not too familiar with the ignition system on those boats... Just know general motor things.

But if you have changed stator, trigger and flywheel... what else is there other than the box? Can you check the inputs to the box?
