I drove to NJ from NC this winter to find the only 195S that was available. I brought it home and then got to stare at it for several months. I added a 2nd bilge, 2nd battery, keel guard, scotch guarded the seats and floors, etc., Even ate a meal in the boat. Today I was very excited to finally put the boat in the water. I first made sure it started before moving the boat. Fired right up. Then I launched the boat for the first time and it went perfectly. I idled the boat for 15 minutes and did the break in procedure. We get out to the middle of the lake and I shut the ignition while the boat was doing about 4 mph and then drifted. I then tried to fire her back up and while the motor turned over it would not start. I moved the throttle forward and back to neutral, pulled out the kill switch with the lanyard, held down the rear kill switch with the latch up. I tried everything I could think of. Jeff from Cobra who was very helpful suggested to remove the battery cable and reconnect it. I didn't try that but will tomorrow. It's probably something simple. Anyway, the wind took the boat pretty far until we were pushed into a private marina and was able to throw a rope and dock the boat. They didn't like that we were there and because we weren't members they wouldn't help us. The boat rental guy sent out a boat to rescue us. They didn't want a penny. I did give the guy 70.00 and was more than grateful. He even helped get the boat back on the trailer. Anyway, this was my day. It was a great day except for the break down. Oh...tow boat had an old bumper that put a pretty big scuff in my new boat :(

That really sucks. I hope it is an easy fix. Seems I hear alot of people having problems like this with 2021 models.

I am optimistic it will be okay. You are still under warranty anyway, but I do it think it will come to that

Highly recommend BoatUS and a towing membership. I have the unlimted Gold towing membership.

If it’s turning over you can pretty much eliminate all of these.
I’d double check all the wiring on the 2nd battery kit you did. If that’s ok then I’d just take it to the dealer for a boat that new.

Had this issue on my 2017, it was intermittent. It never got resolved.

Intermittent issues are the worst. You can never trust your boat. I'm bringing the boat in for service tomorrow. I'll let everyone know what they find.

So you were turning the key, the engine was rumbling, but not fully starting?

Going to buy a trolling motor so at least I can tow myself to shore. It was a very helpless feeling. We called everyone we could think of and we eventually found a tow. I'm in a small town that closes up at 5pm.

Turning over but not starting.

I should have memorized this after this many years but if I recall correctly not turning typically is a hatch kill switch. If turning but not firing/starting it is typically a lanyard. It cuts the sparks plugs if I recall correctly. And sometimes even if they lanyard is on.it is not quite right.

Did you and the dealer never put gas in it other than the just enough to get it going at the lot and ramp ? ?
I hope this is it. Crazy simple first timer mistake but could be it?

We got a Wave Raider jet ski in 1996 and my dad fought it for 20 minutes at the ramp...another guy on a jet ski pulls up and asks if he had turned the gas switch on...

Since you turned the engine off while it was still moving I wonder if there was enough water pressure flowing through the inlet that it was like being towed at speeds they tell you not to be towed at? As in like flushing without the engine on? Did you pull the plugs and make sure no water is in them or in the cylinders? How did the oil look?

Usually a no start in a new boat is a safety switch problem or loose wire connection. Neutral safety switch got me one time, I carry enough tool on board to diagnose the problem while waiting for sea tow. I always start at spark. Their are a lot of plug in connection from the computer to the ignition and the fuel/injection the dealer will sort it out. BTW you did all the right things with all the safety switches......Good Luck

Sorry to hear of your trouble. Anxious to see what you find. Best of luck.

Turning over but not starting.

If it starts when it gets to dealer, don’t let them give any BS. Have them get Yamaha involved right away. I went down this road for 3 years.

So couldn’t just be a simple spark plug issue?

or how long did you have the boat sitting with the same gas in it? Type of gas? Did you use stabil while it sat?
The dealer said the boat was winterized before I picked it up. He said they used gas stabilizer. I only had 3/4 of a tank so filled her up right before our maiden voyage.
