Is there a break in period before ballast can be deployed and one can pull a wake surfer? 222XD arriving soon. Thank you!

You manual is the best source for that information. After buying a number of Yamaha engines, I have never been lead astray by their break in suggestions.

You will get all sorts of opinions like break it in like you will use it, to run it like a baby for the first 10 hours. You really won't hurt these engine IMHO. But the manual is the gold standard, what you choose to do beyond that is up to you.

The 2023 manual are not published online as of yet, but you can use the same guidance that any other 190/212/240/242/250/252 manual uses, as the engines are identical.

perfect...I assume its ok to pull a surfer once break in is complete

That's what the manual is stating. We used to worry about pulling a tube or a boarder before break in. Pulling a surfer is not the issue (sorry, had to say it, as a surfer puts no strain on the boat)

But rather its the hundreds or thousands of pounds of ballast and running it at slow speeds with minimal air movement. That's considered an extreme for these boats. They do it just fine, so don't over think it, just follow your manual and break it in.

Thx! Doing a sea test and was hoping to see the wave with just the included ballast
