Is anyone barrel aging cocktails? I've got 5 barrels going - amazed at how much the drink characteristics change in the barrel.
Just finished a Manhatten aged in a barrel pre conditioned with Port wine- very pleased with the results. If my posts get wacky you'll know why!
Looking for cocktail recipe ideas that are ideal for barrel aging.

Mint Julip, especially since the Derby is coming up.

Basically any drink that features bourbon. Old fashion, sazerac, Boulevardier, gold rush, triple crown, etc....

Went to Hi-Wire Brewery for a tour and they had a barrel aged stout, was seriously good flavor. I can’t drink strait bourbon after a very bad night in college (many moons ago, but the taste aversion still lingers), notes and a hint of flavor work for me.

My grandfather used to make Cherry Bounce all the time with Michigan cherries & bourbon. I believe he used large Mason jars, but I bet added character from an oak barrel would be very, very nice.

I don't have his recipe here (can get it from family's lake house this summer), but it is much like this: http://emerils.com/125022/cherry-bounce

Note some Cherry Bounce recipes call for brandy, but I prefer bourbon.
