Hi Guys. Recently bought a 2010 AR240 and needless to say .. disappointed with the sound system. Looking for a decent sound system to put on the boat and that can be self installed. My idea is to swap out the current speakers , amplifier etc with the new system and maybe put in a couple of cone speakers on the wake tower. I am not an audiophile, but enjoys the occasional music. I prefer the installation instructions to be simple and easy to follow. Interested more in quality of the music than loudness. I am not interested in spending thousands on the sound system, as I got cleaned out paying for the boat :). Any suggestions ? Thanks.

Cheers
Amar

For a cheap upgrade, start by replacing the speakers and adding an amplifier to power them. You could also add a sub, but that can easily be added later.

Many guys have been upgrading to the Polks for a budget solution. For a little more, you could go to Wet Sounds of JL Audio and have the best. Either way, it will be way better than the stock garbage. Don't cheap out on the amp, it will make whatever speakers you get sound much better.

Check out the Electonics section or search stereo and you'll see tons of write ups. Good luck!

I have 6 Polk db651 and 2 Polk db691 tower speakers and a bazooka tube sub running off of two pioneer class d car amps.
I chose to run new speaker wire everywhere so the amps could live next to the batteries.
The sub lives in the same cabinet as batteries. I also added a Sony head unit to control it all easily.
I almost went JL route which is definitely better, but I am very happy with the sound I got and can hear comfortably over the wind at cruise. JL and Exile type systems add up quick.

With everything that's listed and the new HU/install equipment right around $1200 I think.
