Ok..its time to replace my shipping cover finally. 2014 242 limited s....been looking and calling..not finding a good...trusted deal...anyone have a good trusted spot? Or do I throw yamaha 900 bucks boooo? Tx

Those Yamaha premium covers are really good.

Dealer wants $810... seen a few on ebay for $600 but im weary on ebay purchases..

If you are using it for winterization go with the shipping cover. I wouldn't use the mooring cover outside all winter. I bought my replacement shipping cover on ebay for 500. I use ebay all the time though so im pretty comfortable with it and being protected by paypal.

I highly recommend that cover. Travels well - nice tight seal and looks friggin really good!!

My boat sits on a lift in a covered dock. So it gets no snow no rain etc..unless it raining sideways from wind... but mostly always protected.

@Bennie looked at the link..im assuming the pics do not represent the actual product? I like the price for sure..

I had an email from @JetBoatPilot about a week ago I think it was you had to call and they were doing 20% off and free shipping. You may want to call and ask. I think it is still going on but may not hurt to call and ask them.

Found this pic off Google. This should is a true representation of a deluxe mooring cover. This would be the product that you would be buying from the link above.

@Ronald The part number I bought for my 2011 was MAR-242MC-TW-BK. It should be the same for you. This is the black cover which is a little nicer than the gray one.

if you want the towing cover, I recommend Yamaha Sports Plaza. You can look up the exact one for your boat through their web page. They have the best prices on the original towing covers (even with shipping).

I do not recommend the Yamaha cover. I bought mine new when I purchased my boat in 2013 and I am very disappointed. I store my boat on the trailer and indoors year round. In total, my cover has seen sunlight for maybe 72 hours, yet it isn't holding up well. I discovered by accident that the cover wasn't waterproof when I was cleaning the dust off it while it was on the boat, dang water spray went right through. My latest problem is one of the ratchets is now slipping if I cinch it too tight. I paid $1100.. Glad I commandeered the shipping cover from the dealer who tried to keep it for themselves as I see that as a stop gap solution until I can find a better alternative or have something made out of sunbrella material.

Ouch...sorry to hear @Jim Cosler

We haven't had our boat as long (March 2015) but my boat stays outside and hardly even sees shade. Our premium Yamaha mooring cover has held up wonderfully, without complaint, against rain and intense heat and sunshine. I know it's been while but you may still want to talk to your dealership about that. IMO

Sometimes greatlakesskipper on eBay has shipping covers for about $300. Mine came with a set of anti-pooling poles and straps.

My Premium Mooring Cover was $619 w/free shipping. leaders_rpm on eBay sells the OEM product in my case MAR-242BK-TW-14. Holding up pretty well for constant year-round salt air abuse. I do the Sunbrella 303 High Tech Fabric Guard treatment that is recommended by the manufacturer Commercial Sewing for their Outer Amour covers:

There are also some helpful videos on installing the anti-pooling poles and how to install their covers on their site.

I purchased my boat new in 2013, and also got the "Premium Deluxe" (black) mooring cover. The boat sits in a covered slip in the summer, and in a sealed metal building in the winter. In the three years I've owned it, it's had about 5-6 days of direct sunlight and hardly any moisture. In only three seasons, it has completely fallen apart.

The ratchet teeth are worn/won't hold, the zipper over the starboard side ratchet seized up to the point where I had to cut the zipper off, the Yamaha lettering is all cracked and nearly gone, and I've already had to replace two of the plastic buckles (replaced with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DG83CQW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

It's had a very protected, easy life. Not sure why it died so quickly.

That being said, the cover they offer now looks to be much nicer, like a new revision. The hardware looks better, the cleats appear to be all covered now too with some sort of more reinforced pouches/cases. I'm going to try this one and see if I can get a little more than 3 years out of it.

Gosh, I hope my $$$ black premium cover fares better than that! I hear they did change the fabric more recently, it used to be SureLast, and now is SureLast BW+. I don't think either is as good as Sunbrella.

@swatski - I believe you're going to be good. You should have the same updated version that I have and mine has been sitting outside in the hot lower Alabama sun since March 2015.

Other than the printed on Yamaha sign starting to crack a little it shows no other signs of wear. (knock on wood)
