Yesterday I pulled my cleanout tray to inspect my hoses and clamps. While pulling the dozen screws I noticed the four corner bumpers were cracked and hard as rocks. I went to the local West Marine positive they would carry replacement bumpers but nothing in their inventory or catalog. I then went across the street to a marine parts store but no luck there either.

I figured my last resort would be to buy OEM and pay $15 for official Yamaha bumpers and to add insult to injury they would charge another $5.95 for shipping. On the way home I saw a True Value Hardware store. I figured, why not? Here is what I found. They look almost identical to the OEM and were under $4 with tax for a pack of four. My bumpers are bumping again. I may have to readjust the kill switches as the new bumpers are a little higher than the old squashed and cracked ones.

Those things do take a beating. It's a good idea to have a few extras on hand. Thanks for posting where to find them.

I don't even know if my boat has bumpers, I don't remember seeing them. Maybe that's why my hatch moves so much when you step on it:-/

@Wayloncle I have 4 in the cleanout tray, one in each corner. They stabilize the hatch so it doesn't put a lot of strain on the cutoff switches. I also have 2 more in the floor locker hatch but those are in good shape. These bumpers have a recess on top for the screw. As I mentioned they look OEM.

Funny I had the same experience and ended up buying the same ones. I was going to put it up with my explanation on finding the leak. I also added a few extras for more support. Just be careful if you screw it down to far with those it will go right through it. There is no metel washer embedded in these.

Thanks for the heads up @Alex Smith.

I replaced mine last year too. I believe I got them at Ace Hardware. It was a perfect match. Just another place to look.

Just found the exact same bumpers at Home Depot for $1.98. Also picked up some small stainless steel washers to reinforce the top to prevent the screws from poking through as @Alex Smith mentioned. Should be better than oem.

Now just be careful to drill your pilot hole putting them on, or else your hatch could wind up looking like my anchor locker... (there are pics around here somewhere, but to find them would be too depressing, particularly as I am now learning gelcoat work to fix them)

These were existing holes @tdonoughue. I did find out the small washer for each of the 4 oem bumpers are made of ferris metal which explains the large rust stains where the old bumpers were located. They will clean up easily. I replaced the ferris washers with stainless steel. I also found my floor locker has 5 of the same type bumpers if anybody needs to replace them. Mine are in good shape.

Mine are black on the '12 sx240.
