Hi - new to the board and just bought a boat. Not sure how to find the appropriate bunk width the for my lift. The trailer bunks are angled from about 6 inches to 40” at the stern. Anything i should be carefuly about? I might just open my bunks to 40 inches the whole way for the lift as i cant angle them per the trailer... thoughts?

Welcome!

Looks like a few days with no answer. And I won't have much info for you, but a little. But my answer will bump you to the top where others (more knowledgeable) may chime in.

Many use the trailer as a guide and just mimic that. Do pay attention to the depth of the crossmembers on the trailer and on the lift. You can have the bunks exactly right, but if your crossmembers are shallower on the lift, you will scrape the keel getting it in (or worse, lift it on the keel).

As to the angle, some others have cut their bunk boards on their lift at an angle. You certainly don't want the edge of the bunk taking all the load of your boat... You could also see if they have a bracket for your lift that is adjustable.

Hope that helps some.
