Can the oil injector be bypassed and the fuel premixed?

Hello All

New to jet boats. Bought a Sportster recently, A local marine mechanic helping me with the boat said the warning buzzer is malfunctioning. Since it’s causing an issue, would it be a dumb idea to bypass the oil injector and mix 40/1?

Doesn't impress me as dumb. Some of the old Yamahas had issues with the oil mixing system (the hose would break, meaning no oil got mixed and the engine got damaged). Many removed the mix system and premixed...

Thanks for the reply, I’ve run 2 stroke outboards most of my life, jet boats are very new to me. I have communicated with a few Seadoo veterans and they said it was detrimental to the motor to pre-mix. I figure at least with a pre-mix I know the motor is getting oil. 40/1 or 50/1 should be good? Thanks again.

Not sure why that would be. I mean, oil in the gas is oil in the gas, right? I would ask them to explain. Maybe the SeeDoos dynamically vary the mix? Odd, but possible...

Not sure the mix for them...

So I have learned a few things.

I can’t say it’s gospel but it’s information anyways.

Apparently with the Seadoo oil injectors they will change mix depending on idle/speed. Idling they can go up to 100/1 mix and 40/1 mix when running. 40/1 is the norm for a Seadoo 2-stroke motor. Some Seadoo guys say it doesn’t matter most of the time and some swear by the auto oiler. They make oiler delete kits as well.

Thanks for reporting back. So that means that at idle you would have more oil than intended if you mixed 40:1. Probably not a huge issue unless you are sitting idling for extended periods of time, I would think. If you idled too much, probably would just gunk up the engine a bit, maybe leading to a premature carb rebuild? Would be far worse to have too low of a mix. Then you could cause engine damage.
