My 2017 Yamaha SX195 seems to be running a little rough. I like to do my own maintenance and was thinking about the Candoo Pro. Does anyone know if this is compatible with the Yamaha jet boats?

Thanks!

Mike

Yes it is. They’re in NC and ship quick and great customer service. The directions say to disconnect the left tach but I didn’t need to do this where as yamaha moved to the 7” connext in 2017.

Thanks! I'll have to see if I can locate those instructions.

I have had to deal with their customer service on a CanAm connector, and they were super fast and friendly to deal with!

Hey @Weeb I couldn't find any instructions with my CanDoo Pro. Where is that connector you're talking about? Is it in the engine bay or up by the dash?

Thanks,

Mike

My connections for the candoo were behind the dash. Some boats are in the engine compartment so I’m not sure about yours. Mine were labeled strbd diag and port diag.

The directions can’t tell you where it is and candoo doesn’t know because yamaha moves them all over the place.

@Weeb you are spot on! I contacted Candoo and he said to reference my maintenance manual, which I don't have. So I ordered the maintenance manual. I need it for some other stuff anyway. The engine seems to be running really rich for some reason. Smells of gas and black smoke. Not fun. Thanks again for your feedback!

Do you have a connext screen or a way to see if any codes are coming up? Last time you changed the plugs? I just change them every year with the oil change.

No, mine's not that fancy. I have the old timey two gauges. I'm assuming any codes would come up on the tiny LCD display, but not sure. I changed the plugs about 10 hours ago. I haven't changed the oil yet, but that's on the roster. It actually runs/sounds great about 2000 RPM, but idling or running below 2000 RPM there's some black smoke and a heavy smell of gas. And last time I took her out, Monday, I turned off the ignition to kill the engine while I jumped ashore real quick and the engine didn't turn off! I even pulled the key out of the ignition... engine still running. Very bizarre. And the final stab in the gut is that when I got home and parked her in the driveway, there is a small amount of gas coming out of the starboard drain hole. Not sure if these things are all connected, or I'm screwed.

I would look for a fuel leak. You could also have a bad ignition switch. I think you can gets some codes on the display do a search on here someone must have asked about it or knows.
