Hello all. I just bought a 2023 Scarab SBI165. I am going to leave it on a floating boat lift and I'm worried about the red fading because the existing boat cover doesn't cover down the sides.

Has anyone purchased a universal cover that's longer and wider and made it go over the wake tower instead of a support pole? Thinking it would shed rain well and cut down on the wind beating it up and keep the salt water spray off it better. 🤷‍♂️

I haven't seen one over all the years I've been following Scarabs. Except for winter covers of course... but I presume this is for daily use.

Personally, my boat lives in the lake all summer here in Canada... floating. Exposed to all the elements and it hasn't been a problem. If it fades, it's only oxidation which can be buffed up easily with a bit of polish or compound and a rotary buffer. It brings the colour right back and you'll probably want to do this periodically anyways to remove small scratches.

But otherwise, I'd consider adding a skirt instead to the current cover. But you'd have to come up with a way to attach it.

That was something I was considering also... Just adding side skirts to it. But then I thought a longer and wider cover might cover all the way around and I can attach the straps to the floating dock instead of the boat. Then air would flow through better too

I personally don't think this is necessary at all, but regardless, post pics if you do. Always curious to see what people come up with.

Fyi, the factory cover lets plenty of air in. I regularly close it up with wet surfaces, and it dries on its own over time. But more air flow definitely doesn't hurt.
