Long story short, was in some wind the other day in some shallow water, couldn’t get out fast enough and ended up hitting the back of my boat. Damaged the transducer. It seemed to be working fine after (didn’t know at the time what I damaged) but I don’t want to take it out again until getting some feedback. I will eventually get it replaced but if it is still OK to use for now I don’t want my boat sitting in the shop.

See pictures...damage is mostly to cover but not sure if I need to worrying about water leaking in or any other issues. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! 6E1951AD-F9D2-4132-83FF-357E0D0C1EC2.jpeg

I would be concerned with water intrusion at this point. Keep an eye on the rear hatch section of the bilge for water. Might not come in while floating but under speed with the water pressure back there it could find its way in.

Does not look too bad. If it is still working, I would seal it; but watch it as @1WetBoat suggests! Just make sure your bilge pump is working and in Auto when you go out again.

Any recommendations on a sealant to use?

That is my fear too. I would prefer to just replace it...seems like an easy enough part to replace but I think getting access to it is the issue.

@Golfer444 I have used marine type sealant that I purchased at Home Depot.

@Golfer444 I am replacing a defective transducer now. Access is an issue, but mine has to be replaced. Running aground is a bigger problem.

With the backlog of parts right now, I would not waste any time replacing it until it fails, or you are taking on water. With that amount of damage, you are not going to take on enough water to cause an issue. If so, then replace it.

If it were leaking, you would never take on more water than the bilge pump couldn't handle, and if if the pump failed, if checking, you would see the water before it became an issue. And at that point get off the water. Unless you are planning some cross Atlantic excursion any time soon.

Feel lucky it's still working for you, as you can swap it out in the off season when parts may become available again. In the past, these boats shipped with a filler plug for just this purpose, that the transducer was pulled for service, or replaced by a third party 'ducer. In your case, run it and monitor it. I would bet you take on less water than a spilled beer.

Good luck
