Hope this helps someone out there...

At about 45 hours and about 4-5 months of ownership my 215HO Starboard Engine started to shut down on random circumstances until it finally died in the middle of the local bay... No hour display, no starter cranking, nothing, dead as if it was not there... PORT engine was fine.
It was a long "limp mode" ride home...

Took the boat to MarineMax who after a few days told me everything was fine, according to them it was just a loose cable and they secured it. Took the boat to a lake and after a few days it died again, 2 MORE WEEKS at Marine Max and I was told the ECU cable had come loose (afterwards I realized this is impossible, it looks like a space shuttle connection), I took the boat home and on the first trip the engine was dead again.

After some troubleshooting on my part I found out that the circuit breaker for the Starboard ECU, was not providing power to the ECU (it was not tripped either), I pulled out the circuit breaker and it was toasted with rust (I spent 95% of my time on fresh water). I replaced the circuit breaker with a quality breaker and we are back in business, running solid for 4 months now and 20 hours later. I had another circuit breaker (accessory) fail the same way shortly after so decided to change them all for better reliability.

What a PITA @Rick215HO

However, great diagnosis and repair on your part. Even better that you posted up the symptoms, trouble shoot and fix. I'm sure in the long run you will save a lot of guys quite a few headaches by posting this. It might save even more time (and future questions) if you could post a link to the replacement parts too.

Awesome job, That's what makes this site so great!!! :)

Great fix and I am sure many will benefit from this post.

It would be helpful if you closed the loop with MarineMax so that they can get some education on the problem/resolution. You may also have a case for getting some money back but that is secondary to fixing the real issue - The service center

Thanks for bringing that up :) -You hit a nerve there ----I did tell Marine Max, their reply was that it was interesting and they will make a note, did not offer to cover the breakers on warranty and I did not even ask because I'm just tired of dealing with them... To be honest one of the worst things about the Scarab line is having to deal with Marine Max and having no direct access to parts accessories on the web like Yamaha and a good service network. I'm not sure if its because they make more money on the bigger boats but Marine Max seem clueless about the Scarab boats every time I have an issue, and I have had many... On one occasion they forgot to reset the maintenance light after an oil change, I made an appointment to take the boat back to hook up the computer and reset the light (I live 35 miles away) the tech hooked up the computer and after 30 mins he told me that he did not know how to reset the light :dead: -they had to call Scarab to ask them how to reset the light and I had to come back (another 70 mile trip) to reset it- The managers always make it right in the end so I don't want to bash them too much, but every time it takes multiple trips and everything is an education process with them, its like going to the dentist... You would think they could hire a proficient Seadoo tech to work on the engines but seems like that would be too much...

If only all mechanics had the tenacity like you, we'd all be happy boaters, but unfortunately this is a problem across the board, cheap labour because anybody worth their salt won't work for peanuts.
Good to hear you fixed your problem.
