I tried my new inreach yesterday. I was in the truck, we took a trip to Clearwater Beach. Turns out I forgot to turn tracking on....

It seemed like it didn't get a decent signal when I sent a couple messages... I left it up on the dash (in the sun) to get a clearer shot at the sky and it seemed to work better. I'm a bit leary about leaving electronics in the sun.

My question is where do you have yours when in use ?

@Bruce @robert843 @Ramblin Wreck

Mine was in the center console or in a cup holder in the truck. In the boat it was attached to Emma's life jacket. The only time I had an issue with signal was when Emma was laying on it.

I haven't activated mine just yet. It's on my to do list this week.

I've activated mine and will test this week.

Mine will be attached to my life vest as I cross and in my center console in my truck.

Inside mine struggled but in the sun was fine. I did the same in the car had it on the dash and it worked fine. I talked to one of the guys from the jetski trip to bimini a few weeks ago he kept his in the glove box of the ski and it tracked the whole time that we saw. Most gps enabled items need direct shot into the sky to function and can be a little finicky at times depending on where the satellites they are pulling from are located at that time. Thanks for the reminder of this though as I will be traveling all this week so I will do more testing starting tomorrow. I have to go to Charleston, Atlanta, Greenville and Columbia this week. @Ramblin Wreck I will be in Alpheretta on Tuesday night if you want to grab a beer and @Andy S I will be in Columbia Wednesday night if you and Cindera would like to grab dinner.

Cindera (aka Cindy) and I are interested in dinner on Wednesday night.

I would love too, however Brittany and I will be finishing up our co-ed softball season and I'm on the south side of Atlanta (McDonough).

@tim h I have been doing some testing today as I'm traveling. I have left it on the passenger seat and it appears to be working fine with out the direct view. I'm going to try and do a battery test as I will be traveling for the next few days so I plan to leave it turned on and see how long it lasts. Below is the current tracking I have going. Someone feel free to send me a message through the mapshare as that is one feature I have not tested.

@Bruce I did figure out that if you go into the mapshare options page on the delorme web site if you set the date to not show old trackings the map share will only show the current one as it appears when i looked earlier it only shows my tracking from today none of the old ones.
