Hi Everyone,

Had a slight overheat from sucked up seaweed today (port engine). Overheat light came on along with the CEL and limp mode activated. Once the weeds were cleared out of the clean out ports the boat ran fine and the overheat light went off.

The CEL is still on and from what I’ve read in other forums it may go off after 3-4 clean starts.

Question. Who makes a diagnostic tool for consumers on these boats?I’ve tried searching but can’t find what people are using for 2021 OBDII w/ Connext Screens.

They replied back and have the YDS Pro2 works for our boats. It’s $399

The good news is that after 5 starts the CEL went away.

I just had this same problem, but from running on a hose, with a kink in the port side hose that I didn't see. Temp alarm went off and I shut down in the correct order (water first). The engine cooled down and the temp alarm went off, but still getting the CEL on the port side 2 weeks later. Boat has .6 hrs and never been in the water (don't ask why I was running on the hose, just was - maybe too anxious to hear it run). I am 3 hrs from the dealer/mechanic, so would really like to reset it myself. What is the restart procedure. Is it a full start and stop of the engines and turning the key all the way off each time, etc... I have turned the key off and on over 5 times, and the battery disconnect switches the same number. Any advice to not have to take it in would be very appreciated! Thanks! Also trying to decide if I should get the YDS Pro2 being this far from the mechanic in case something like this happens again.

My CEL went off after I did 5 full engine starts. Do not turn off your battery switches. Leave them on during this whole process.

Can you tell me what company you emailed. I talked to a Yamaha dealer, and they are not available to the public. Curious what you were told. Thanks
