Who has one of these or uses a drone while boating? How do they handle in the wind? Currently in Tampa, FL and concerned the Mavic Pro isn't worth the money if it isn't going to be able to handle the wind.

Wind is not a problem unless you install the after market ball floats. Speed is limited in most modes to 30 mph, but jumps up to 50 in advanced mode, just something to think about if you have sustained winds (not gusts).

This is the first time seeing that there are ball floats available. Are these worth it? Doesn't effect the flight or battery too much?

I paid $40 plus shipping for mine. Hey raised the Mavic up which is nice but they also slowed it down too much on the day I was flying with them installed (constant wind of over 10 mph). I installed a getter back fishing rod buoy instead. Chances are I will never use the floats again.

I ordered a Mavic Pro! I can't believe how excited I am to get it (one). But, I used connection points (CC) and it may not be here quick. I am reading, learning, and hope to get good advice from you guys. Don't have the boat any longer so don't think I need to consider floats at this point, but who knows, I live a mile from the lake!

I use a DJI Phantom 3 on the boat and its awesome, but it's hard to control the thing and drive the boat at the same time, :) No floats -if it goes in the water your screwed either way so fly safe and smart!

I agree that operating one of these and the boat at the same time is difficult. The best I could do was rotate the heli while it was hovering to keep the boat in frame as I circled the heli with it. The follow-mode helps with this but it is not as reliable as I would like.

I keep a float/getter back fishing rod balloon on all of my quads not so that I can take off from and land on the water but to get memory card back at least as well has have something to rebuild / use as a spare parts source. If you buy the repair or replacement plan from the mfg or a third party, you still have to turn in your broken device for them to repair or replace it, at least that is the way I understand it so claiming it was lost or stolen may get you some kind words and nothing else.

Here is a link to their website. For about $15 I get a lot of peace of mind, so its worth every penny from that perspective.
